I saw the same problem on my desktop box yesterday, it's got DDR3 CL9 RAM
on a Gigabyte motherboard with an AMD 790X chipset. It detected 640KB.
Booting the non-multiboot image makes it work just fine.
Please at a minimum restore the grub menuentry for the old image.

The FTBFS is not reproducible on my machine. Adding -lcap to the linker

Running reportbug-ng on a Swedish system, it doesn't show the
Quit menu item text.
If running LANG=c reportbug-ng, the text Quit, and the keyboard
shortcut is there like expected.
