Trying to upgrade to 2.6.18-3 from 2.6.18-1 gave me the same
message. I'd suggest improving the error message to something
like, Ok, aborting because you said you don't want an initrd.
Please enable debconf or put initrd_no_warn in /etc/kernel-img.conf
or something similar - you get the idea.
