Bug#867898: debian-installer-netboot-images: debian-installer-9-netboot-amd64 scsi modules missing. Netboot image unusable

There's a udeb for amd64 anyway:

https://packages.debian.org/stretch/amd64/scsi-core-modules-4.9.0-3-amd64-di/download

It seems to be used to build the cdrom initramfses on the following archs:
| kibi@armor:~/debian-installer/installer/build$ git grep scsi-core-modules|sort
| pkg-lists/cdrom/alpha.cfg:scsi-core-modules-${kernel:Version}
| pkg-lists/cdrom/amd64.cfg:scsi-core-modules-${kernel:Version}
| pkg-lists/cdrom/arm64.cfg:scsi-core-modules-${kernel:Version}
| pkg-lists/cdrom/i386.cfg:scsi-core-modules-${kernel:Version}
| pkg-lists/hd-media/armhf.cfg:scsi-core-modules-${kernel:Version}

(That's in src:debian-installer)

So it looks to me we only need to have the extra module in this udeb, and
the release images will automatically get it.

Kernel maintainers (in copy): maybe this wasn't added to one of the scsi
udebs because the module is below the drivers/message/fusion directory?

Feel free to steal the bug report away from us if the required change is
just about shipping extra .ko('s) into your udebs.

Thanks for your review! Other people have expressed interest in getting an

Bug#867723: ejabberd: `dpkg-reconfigure ejabberd` fails with `Can't register admin user`

2017-07-10 Thread Soren Stoutner
Phillip,

Thank you for your quick response. Before submitting the bug, I had tried to
manually register a user with version 16.09-4 and received the same error you
documented. However, I am able to manually register the admin user with
17.04-1~exp2, so it would be appropriate to lower the severity.

Thanks for your assistance.

Soren

P.S. Note that I still get an `erl_crash.dump` file every time `dpkg-
reconfigure ejabberd` is run on 17.04-1~exp2, so there are likely some other
incompatibilities introduced with the Erlang 20 transition.

Bug#867965: stretch-pu: package pykde4/4.14.3-2+deb9u1

2017-07-10 Thread Scott Kitterman
Package: release.debian.org
Severity: normal
Tags: stretch
User: release.debian@packages.debian.org
Usertags: pu

QtWebKit support was removed from PyQt4 as part of an attempt to (originally)
remove it for stretch and later reduce its use to a minimum due to scads of
unfixed security issues (QtWebKit for Qt4 has been unmaintained upstream for
quite some time). I neglected to remove QtWebKit usages from PyKDE4 before
release (see the bug this fixes).

All this patch does is remove usage of the not available functionality so that
the bindings work at all. Regression risk is nil. The same change is already
in sid and buster with no issues reported.

The package is ready to upload. I would appreciate an ack in time to get this
in for 9.1 (but understand that I might not get that).

Debdiff attached.

Thanks,

Scott K

Dear Maintainer,

When building Qt5 application which uses QOpenGL classes with ASAN support
there is
a new-delete-type-mismatch reported by the ASAN.

In order to reproduce the issue, it is enough to compile threadedqopenglwidget
demo
application with -fsanitize=address, run the application, close all windows.
See the
ASAN report in console after that.

Bug#864676: [Pkg-phototools-devel] Bug#864676: [darktable] Freezes when trying to operate on RAW images

2017-07-10 Thread Antonio Marcos López Alonso
Have revisited darktable since last upgrades and it seems the issue is gone.
Anyway, for the record, having several USB devices plugged in (as I often
have) has no noticeable effect in my case. Whenever the issue happened a
reboot should do the trick to have darktable working again. And it seemed
suspending to RAM forth and back was a major source of trouble on this matter.

Bug#608648: dpkg-reconfigure should chdir("/") before running maintainer scripts

2017-07-10 Thread Andreas Beckmann
Followup-For: Bug #608648

This change causes regressions, e.g. #867256. I might find more until
sid has seen a complete recheck in piuparts.

That change sounds sensible and should not be reverted, just the
affected packages should be fixed.

Hi,

due to bugs #867422 and #867449 the Python 3 versions of my packages
ended up without any dependencies.

The fix is to add a single "3" in debian/control:
-Depends: ${misc:Depends}, ${python:Depends}
+Depends: ${misc:Depends}, ${python3:Depends}

I have already fixed this in unstable and would like to fix this in
Stretch, too. Maybe Jessie as well.

The version in jessie of my package WordGrinder is painfully old and has a
number of showstopping bugs (document corruption and loss of data). The next
available version in Debian is the version in stable, 0.6-3, which has fixed
these bugs and also contains major functionality improvements.

0.6-3 builds on jessie out-of-the-box with no repackaging required, and so I
would like to propose the version from stable to be included in the next jessie
point release.

(No debdiff is attached as it's empty!)

Disclaimer: as well as being the package maintainer I'm also the upstream
author of WordGrinder (and it's my considered opinion that WordGrinder 0.5.1
needs to be taken out of circulation as quickly as possible before it starts
hurting people).

It's blocked on other parts of GNOME, mainly gobject-introspection.
You also don't need to file bugs like this seconds after the release,
usually it takes a bit of time to get all things in order to do bigger
transitions again.

I hope we can rule out issues soonish and get gobject-introspection
updated in unstable.
Meanwhile, you can always upload to experimental.

Bug#867995: bsdmainutils: cal fails with error when invoked with '-h'

2017-07-10 Thread Felix Crux
Package: bsdmainutils
Version: 9.0.12+nmu1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

The `cal` binary that is part of `bsdmainutils` has stopped supporting the '-h'
flag (documented in the man page as "Turns off highlighting of today").

Specifically, when invoked as `cal -h`, a calendar of the current month (without
any highlighting) is not printed. Instead, the "Usage" message describing valid
parameters is shown.

It is perhaps interesting that it *does* work for `ncal` -- only the `cal` form
is affected.

It is also interesting that when attempting to use a genuinely invalid flag
(like, for example, '-a'), `cal` prints the error "invalid option -- 'a'" before
the "Usage" message, but no such error is printed for '-h'.

I can confirm that this option did work in Debian jessie, but I don't know when
the problem was introduced.

Bug#867994: libllvm-ocaml-dev: unhandled symlink to directory conversion: /usr/lib/ocaml/llvm

2017-07-10 Thread Andreas Beckmann
Package: libllvm-ocaml-dev
Version: 1:4.0-37~exp2
Severity: serious
User: debian...@lists.debian.org
Usertags: piuparts

Hi,

an upgrade test with piuparts revealed that your package installs files
over existing symlinks and possibly overwrites files owned by other
packages. This usually means an old version of the package shipped a
symlink but that was later replaced by a real (and non-empty)
directory. This kind of overwriting another package's files cannot be
detected by dpkg.

This was observed on the following upgrade paths:

  sid -> experimental

For /usr/share/doc/PACKAGE this may not be problematic as long as both
packages are installed, ship byte-for-byte identical files and are
upgraded in lockstep. But once one of the involved packages gets
removed, the other one will lose its documentation files, too,
including the copyright file, which is a violation of Policy 12.5:
https://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/ch-docs.html#s-copyrightfile

For other overwritten locations anything interesting may happen.

Note that dpkg intentionally does not replace directories with symlinks
and vice versa, you need the maintainer scripts to do this.
See in particular the end of point 4 in
https://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/ch-maintainerscripts.html#s-unpackphase

It is recommended to use the dpkg-maintscript-helper commands
'dir_to_symlink' and 'symlink_to_dir' (available since dpkg 1.17.14)
to perform the conversion, ideally using d/$PACKAGE.maintscript.
Do not forget to add 'Pre-Depends: ${misc:Pre-Depends}' in d/control.
See dpkg-maintscript-helper(1) and dh_installdeb(1) for details.

Bug#554794: badblocks -c and -n

2017-07-10 Thread Matt Taggart
#554794 concerns the time it takes to run badblocks for any particular
value of the -c option (count of blocks to do at once).

At the time (2009) it wasn't clear if larger values of -c improved runtime,
although one user (in 2011) reports 10% improvement.

The current -c (block count) default is 64 blocks.
The current -b (block size) default is 1024 bytes.

AFAICT the last time they were increased was 2004 (#232240, -c from 16 to
64).

A related bug (#764636) when running badblocks on a 14tb device was solved
by switching to -b 4096.

Given the device size increases and RAM/CPU improvements since all these
things occurred, is there any value to increasing the defaults? Does anyone
have any data? If not then what tests would be valuable?

I often run many badblocks instances at once on separate SATA devices (so
no bus contention), what are the optimal settings for that case?

Thanks,

Looks reasonable, thanks; but maybe you still want to keep the positive
file contents test for "MS Windows Html Help Data" or similar in there
somewhere? As it now stands, any file with the .chm extension that
doesn't contain "Halibut," will match, which may be a bit broad.

I'm still active and would like to update protobuf first. But I've
several security related bugs to fix in my other packages and those
have priority.

It's bad that I can't follow this package from the first hand.

I think 2 is better way than 1. 1 may cause wayward dependency hell.

Just my two cents, we had better to reduce the number of uim package to
facilitate uim package manegement; e.g. synthesize some sub packages...

Bug#867868: [PATCH] lsscsi: Fix truncation of 128-bit wwn

2017-07-10 Thread Vaibhav Jain

Currently with '--wwn' flag 128-bit wwns are getting truncated with
their last 3 hex-digit missing. Below is a comparison of wwn reported
by lspsci compared to wwn listed at /dev/disk/by-id directory.

% lsscsi -w 0:0:5:0
[0:0:5:0] disk 0x60050764008181941 /dev/sdad

% ls -l /dev/disk/by-id/wwn-*
lrwxrwxrwx. 1 root root 10 Oct 19 01:08
/dev/disk/by-id/wwn-0x600507640081819411b1 -> ../../sdad

To fix this the patch increases the size of member wwn of struct
disk_wwn_node_entry to 35 chars to accommodate the extra '0x' prefix and
null terminator. Also the size of the buffer wwn_str thats used to
output wwn to the std-out is also increased to match the corresponding
member of disk_wwn_node_entry.

How about the client log? Can you crank up the client's debugging as
high as possible and at least see how far it gets in the SSH exchange?

A system hang like this can only be a kernel bug, I think.

Would you mind reporting this upstream at

going to be able to add much value to this bug report by forwarding
messages between you and upstream.

I suspect that the issue is less bubblewrap refusing to create a new
userns, and more the kernel refusing to let it.

I'll copy the text of your bug report to an upstream issue report at

Not having a clue what could have caused this regression, I bisected the
problem and found commit fffaa5 ("dh_installman: Split manpages
between processes") the culprit. Attached is a patch that restores
previous behavior of dh_installman and makes freebsd-manpages build for
me. :-)

Subject: [PATCH] dh_installman: Remove compressed manpages after reencoding

Since commit fffaa5 dh_installman would inadvertently not remove
compressed manpages after reencoding and thereby uncompressing them.
This is not usually a problem since dh_compress takes care of it
later, but if there are multiple hardlinks for the same file
dh_compress fails in this situation.

Upstream version number is 0.5-8, not 0.5.8.

We should stop mangling the number, to facilitate the functioning of
translation of CRAN dependencies to Debian dependencies.

This can be easily done when a new upstream version ≥ 0.6 is out.

That seems to be the wrong place. "Flash/Memory Technology Devices" is

doesn't look like nvme driver bugs are accepted through Bugzilla. Try

Thanks, gdal (2.2.1+dfsg-1), liblas (1.8.1-4) & libgdal-grass (2.2.1-1)
have been uploaded to unstable.

Hopefully no NMUs will be necessary. vtk6 has been fixed, but has not
migrated to testing yet. None of the other packages had issues when the
rebuilds were performed, if anything has cropped up since then I'll have
a go at fixing that.

Bug#867971: RFP: vobsub2srt -- converts vobsub (.idx/.sub) into .srt subtitles

2017-07-10 Thread Matt Zagrabelny
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist

* Package name: vobsub2srt
  Version : 2017.07.10

* URL : https://github.com/ruediger/VobSub2SRT
* License : GPL3+
  Programming Lang: C++
Description : converts vobsub (.idx/.sub) into .srt subtitles

vobsub2srt converts subtitles in vobsub (.idx/.sub) format into the .srt
format. VobSub subtitles contain images and srt is a text format. OCR
is used to extract the text from the subtitles. vobsub2srt uses
tesseract for OCR and is based on code from the MPlayer project.

vobsub2srt is a useful piece of software for converting DVD subtitles from an
image-based format to a text-based format. To my knowledge, the Debian
archive does not have an equivalent piece of software.

If a team was interested in maintaining this software, the Debian
Multimedia Maintainers
would be a logical team to do so.

Thanks for your consideration.

Even if that's the only change, we'd still like to see a debdiff of the
proposed source package, as built and tested on stretch before
confirming, please.

(When doing so, note that I've cloned a copy of this bug, as each p-u

If you'd like to look at jessie then please file separate bugs for that,

Bug#867976: mate-tweak: fails to start, missing dependency

2017-07-10 Thread dimitris
Package: mate-tweak
Version: 16.10.5-1
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

Dear Maintainer,

   * What led up to the situation?
installed mate-tweak and trying to open mate-tweak from mate
control panel or mate-terminal
   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
 ineffective)?
-
   * What was the outcome of this action?
$ mate-tweak
mate-tweak Traceback (most recent call last): File
"/usr/bin/mate-tweak", line 24, in import gi
ImportError: No module named 'gi'

   * What outcome did you expect instead?
mate-tweak to start as expected

after installing python3-gi package, mate-tweak works as expected, so i
guess its a missing dependency issue.

thanks,
dimitris

Bug#867978: /usr/bin/qemu-system-x86_64: virtio-net with vhost is broken with legacy interrupts

2017-07-10 Thread Stefan Fritsch
Package: qemu-system-x86

Severity: normal
File: /usr/bin/qemu-system-x86_64

Hi,

updating from jessie to stretch causes a regression with guests that do
use virtio-net but don't support MSI-X [1], like openbsd 32 bit. There
are no rx interrupts triggered in the guest. A workaround is to disable
vhost.

By testing with vanilla qemu (not the debian packaged version), I have
found that cherry-picking this upstream commit on top of v2.8.1.1 fixes
the problem:

commit b4b9862b536f41fcdf6ad193a306a852c5b5b71a
Author: Michael S. Tsirkin
Date: Fri Feb 17 04:52:16 2017 +0200

virtio: Fix no interrupt when not creating msi controller

For ARM virt machine, if we use virt-2.7 which will not create ITS node,
the virtio-net can not recieve interrupts so it can't get ip address
through dhcp.
This fixes commit 83d768b(virtio: set ISR on dataplane notifications).

This commit is contained in 2.9. It would be great if that fix could be
added to stretch's qemu, too, so that openbsd 32bit guests (and older
openbsd 64bit guesets) work out of the box again. Thanks in advance.

Cheers,
Stefan

I wouldn't reintroduce cppunit1.13 just for this. Bump the severity to serious
and propose to disable the tests until it gets ported upstream, I'd say.

Bug#867921: cloud-init: Network configuration doesn't work

2017-07-10 Thread Aleksandr Mezin
Package: cloud-init
Version: 0.7.9-2
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

Cloud-init writes '/etc/network/interfaces.d/50-cloud-init.cfg' with interfaces
'eth0' and 'lo'. When networking.service starts or restarts, it does not bring
up 'eth0'. But if I rename 50-cloud-init.cfg -> 50-cloud-init, it starts to
work. Also, changing the content of '/etc/network/interfaces' file to
'include /etc/network/interfaces.d/*' makes it work without renaming.

'/etc/network/interfaces.d/50-cloud-init.cfg' (and anything with an extension)
seems to be ignored by networking.service

Bug#867964: systemd: dhcp ips are not renewed after waking up from hibernation

2017-07-10 Thread alberto fuentes
I filed to systemd because these files

/lib/systemd/system/systemd-hibernate-resume@.service
/lib/systemd/system/systemd-hibernate.service

belong to systemd

I did mentioned '/var/lib/dhcp/dhclient.leases' but im not sure who is in
charge of renewing ips or what file are used

I understand systemd services are in charge of bring up the network
interfaces... and as it is in charge of the hibernation service as well,
shouldnt it be in charge of renew the ip if its due after waking up?

Probably this bug happens because nobody took responsibility of renewing
the ip if the computer is not up when it expires

/var/lib/dhcp belongs to isc-dhcp-client

Please, could you help me find out whose package this bug should be
redirected to instead of closing it? Probably isc-dhcp-client if this
problem is not systemds

Bug#867949: ebook-viewer crashes with "Illegal instruction"

2017-07-10 Thread Hartmut Buhrmester

Package: calibre
Version: 2.75.1+dfsg-1

Other relevant packages:

calibre-bin2.75.1+dfsg-1
python2.7 2.7.13-2
libqt5webkit5 5.7.1+dfsg-1
python-pyqt5.qtwebkit 5.7+dfsg-5

For debugging I also installed (for i386):

calibre-bin-dbgsym 2.75.1+dfsg-1
python2.7-dbg 2.7.13-2
libqt5webkit5-dbg 5.7.1+dfsg-1
python-pyqt5.qtwebkit-dbg 5.7+dfsg-5

Kernel: Linux debian 4.9.0-3-686-pae #1 SMP Debian 4.9.30-2+deb9u2
(2017-06-26) i686 GNU/Linux

The ebook-viewer from the package calibre crashes with an "illegal
instruction", while reading ebooks of type *.epub. This happens, for
example, with the ebooks from Project Gutenberg at
https://www.gutenberg.org/wiki/Main_Page .

The crash does not happen immediately; the application starts normally
and I can open an ebook of type *.epub. I can also browse through the
pages. But when I start reading and stay at two subsequent page for some
time, then the ebook-viewer may suddenly quit with an illegal instruction.

It seems, that the ebook-viewer regularly recalculates the current
reading position and safes it to a file. The next time it will reopen
the file at the same position. But sometimes it seems to crash at this
point.

The ebook-viewer may also crash, when the application window is closed.
This crash may get unnoticed during normal usage. But in the debugger, I
still get the message: "Program terminated with signal SIGILL, Illegal
instruction."

I suspect, that the cause is again the recalculation of the reading
position, to save it to a file.

When the ebook-viewer is started in a terminal, I get the error "Illegal
instruction".

hb1@debian:~$ ebook-viewer
Illegal instruction
hb1@debian:~$

The logfiles /var/log/messages, /var/log/syslog und /var/log/kern.log
contain these messages:

Jun 29 22:52:30 debian kernel: [ 1529.008213] traps: ebook-viewer[1350] trap
invalid opcode ip:a84cae95 sp:bfa65160 error:0

I created two backtraces with gdb, using the packages
calibre-bin-dbgsym, python2.7-dbg, libqt5webkit5-dbg, and
python-pyqt5.qtwebkit-dbg.

Since /usr/bin/ebook-viewer is not a binary file, but a Python script, I
used the approach:

- start ebook-viewer in a terminal
- get the process id of /usr/bin/python2.7 /usr/bin/ebook-viewer
- start gdb
- attach gdb to the process id
- let the application continue
- load an ebook in the ebook-viewer
- read the ebook, until it crashes
- get a backtrace

Bug#867948: Manpages refer to non-existent Texinfo manuals

2017-07-10 Thread Adam Plaice
Package: bluez
Version: 5.45-1
Severity: minor

The automatically generated manpages for bluemoon, hex2hcd and
mpris-proxy (in debian/manpages) refer to Texinfo manuals that do not
exist, either in Debian or upstream.

This is slightly confusing, especially due to the licensing conflict
between Debian and GNU, which makes the reader wonder whether there
actually is an info manual in a "non-free" doc package, somewhere.

Solution:

No patches attached since the manpages are automatically generated
using help2man.

However, using the --no-info option in help2man should solve the issue.

PS Thank you for maintaining manpages in Debian, in the first place!

I'm not sure. For Maven projects the check could be removed I think. If
at all it is only useful if you package applications that depend on
multiple libraries and you need to write your own start script. But even
then it is not strictly necessary to have a Manifest file with a
classpath somewhere, you can just use the -cp command line flag and
point to a directory that contains all necessary jar files. (just did
that for pdfsam where the classpath is set to /usr/share/pdfsam/lib.

I believe if we could narrow down the check to applications it would be
more useful because I see too many warnings in library packages where I
think they are not really needed.

But on the other hand the check seems to target Java libs. I just can't
make sense of the last sentence here:

"Failing to do that means that for every change in class path, all
rdepends must update their wrapper scripts, which is a lot of work for
nothing."

Can someone give a concrete example?

Markus

OK, I can see you have lots of OSes installed on your computer. I can
see os-prober parsing lilo config files from other installations. :-)

What I *don't* see is any indication of any failures, though. Instead,
grub-install claims to have succeeded:

Yes please, that might be very helpful. Run as

 "grub-install -v /dev/sda"

and capture the output please?

Bug#867962: setserial: legacy files not cleaned up correctly

2017-07-10 Thread Christoph Anton Mitterer
Package: setserial
Version: 2.17-50
Severity: normal

Hi.

Both in sid and stable (as upgraded from oldstable).

setserial apparently once had:
/etc/modutils/setserial
as config file:
# dpkg -S /etc/modutils/setserial
setserial: /etc/modutils/setserial

(and not /etc/modutils).

Now /etc/modutils was apparently dropped, but not the conffile, whic
leads to:
Unpacking setserial (2.17-50) over (2.17-48) ...
dpkg: warning: unable to delete old directory '/etc/modutils': Directory not
empty

Could you clean this please up in one of the next
versions for sid and stretch?

Cheers,
Chris.

I mean, that the flag has been added by gcc, and a lot of programs in the
archive are supplying it to the build, with a backward incompatible
change.

e.g. you can think about all the -dkms packages, because pie is something that
the kernel can't use.

So, instead of patching every single control file of a tool using no-pie, I
would suggest to patch gcc if there still are supported configurations
without the -f-no-pie switch.
(I mean, implement that switch and do nothing when used)

>When you say "fix the whole archive" what do you mean?

the above :)

updating control file, adding version constraints with versions not in the
archive anymore is kind of useless, speaking about Buster we won't have such
gcc versions anymore since at least two stable releases.
>Last question:

>If I contribute a patch to the debian/control file to do this, would it get
>applied?

nobody complained so far about this issue, so you are probably one of the few
people not updating their compiler :)

I'm really not sure this is worth the effort

Bug#867963: symlinks to bootstrap.min and jquery.min do not work

Package: r-cran-shiny

resolve() (utils.R) will not resolve paths which aren't subdirectories

The attached hack fixes this; perhaps upstream may want to make a more
general method to make resolve() more granular, but for the time being,
this should work.

Hi,

cppunit 1.14 is now in unstable; thus raising the severity of these bugs
to serious.

I intend to NMU very soon.

For gnuradio and ola:

gnuradio will not be able to build against cppunit 1.14 as 1.14 requires c++11.
I pondered introducing cppunit1.13 and actually did so but the RT
(understandably)
doesn't want two versions of cppunit.

So if that stays as-is you either need to
 - port gnuradio to supporting building with c++11
 - disable the testsuite

Same for ola, though that one's fixed-upstream and just needs a actual release
to support cppunit 1.14...

We should stop mangling the number, to facilitate the functioning of

This can be easily done when a new upstream version ≥ 0.2 is out.

Hmmm... the gcc packages involved (gcc 4.9.2-4 and gcc-5 5.2.1-23) are
definitely newer than Jessie -- I would think that means they're "technically"
Stretch, but I'm not too clear on debian policies.

Well, I don't think it's much effort, and I'm (still) volunteering to
contribute most of the effort.
I'm not sure waiting until more people have a problem with this is the way to
go. And of course, not everyone who has a problem will complain (or will

Bug#867916: gnome-calendar: incorrect time is saved when creating an event

2017-07-10 Thread Furquan Ahmad
Package: gnome-calendar
Version: 3.22.5-1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

When adding an event, if I set the time to some value "xx:xx"-"xx:xx", the
calendar saves the event and everything looks fine. But if you open Evolution
or the shell-calendar (the clock on the top panel in GNOME-shell) I see an
incorrect time has been saved (for example, 04:30 saved for an event running
from 10:00-11:30) while the date remains correct.
The only way to correct this problem is to open Evolution and correct the time
in that event.

To reproduce this problem follow these steps:

1. Open gnome-calendar
2. Add an event
3. Uncheck "All Day" and set a time
4. Open Evolution or the shell-calendar (the clock on top panel)
5. Select the date of the said event--the event would have wrong time set.
For example, for an event "Sample" belonging to "Personal" calendar due 18 July
2017 from 10:00 to 11:30. The event would have 4:30 set as the time (both in
Evolution and the shell-calendar, not gnome-calendar itself).

I'd like to add that I don't have Google-integration enabled or Evolution
set-up with my email (I only set it up to verify and correct this problem--it's
still not set up with my mail).

Bug#867956: Manpage refers to non-existent Texinfo manual

2017-07-10 Thread Adam Plaice
Package: exo-utils
Version: 0.10.7-1
Severity: minor

The automatically generated manpage exo-desktop-item-edit (at
debian/exo-desktop-item-edit.1) refers to a Texinfo manual that does
not appear to exist, either in Debian or upstream.

This is slightly confusing, especially due to the licensing conflict
between Debian and GNU, which makes the reader wonder whether there
actually is an info manual in a "non-free" doc package, somewhere.

Solution:

No patches attached since the manpage is automatically generated using help2man.

However, using the --no-info option in help2man should solve the issue.

PS Thank you for maintaining additional manpages in Debian, in the first place!

Bug#867923: do not mangle upstream version number

2017-07-10 Thread Sébastien Villemot
Package: src:r-cran-dynlm
Version: 0.3.5-1
Severity: normal

Upstream version number is 0.3-5, not 0.3.5.

We should stop mangling the number, to facilitate the functioning of
translation of CRAN dependencies to Debian dependencies.

This can be easily done when a new upstream version ≥ 0.4 is out.

I'm not sure I understand this response.
When you say "gcc-specific", are you saying that the Debian Haskell package
supports compilers other than gcc? It appears to me that it specifically
requires gcc.

When you say "fix the whole archive" what do you mean?
I suggest only a update to the "debian/control" file to prevent/discourage
users from trying to use ghc with older, unsupported compilers.

Last question:
If I contribute a patch to the debian/control file to do this, would it get
applied?

It actually depends on:

Now unstable has had PHP 7.1 packages for about 6 months (info from
https://tracker.debian.org/pkg/php7.1), and while I can see it was
useful to hold off updating php-all-dev while we were in release
freeze, it would be really helpful to update php-all-dev now the
release has happened so that it's actually useful for its intended
purpose.

Cheers,

Bug#865531: (no subject)

2017-07-10 Thread Johannes Schauer
The long tag description of testsuite-autopkgtest-missing suggests that they
have to simply add the field Testsuite:autopkgtest to debian/control and
everything is fixed.

But this is not the real fix. The real fix is to add a debian/tests/control
*and* at least one test.

I think the testsuite-autopkgtest-missing should not check whether the
Testsuite:autopkgtest field is present in the dsc because lintian can easily be
fooled by maintainers who add that field to debian/control directly (which they
shouldn't do). Instead the test should check for existence of
debian/tests/control *and* of at least one non-empty test file referenced by
the control file.

Furthermore the text of testsuite-autopkgtest-missing has to be fixed as
Raphaël already pointed out or otherwise maintainers will just add the field to
debian/control and think they are done with it.

Lastly, there should be a new tag for when the Testsuite:autopkgtest is set in
debian/control. This should not be done because the field is added to the final
.dsc by dpkg-source. This seems to be a common problem (331 pages of hits):

https://codesearch.debian.net/search?q=(%3Fm)^Testsuite%3A+path%3Adebian%2Fcontrol

Thanks!

cheers, josch

Bug#867915: ITP: xsimd -- C++ wrappers for SIMD intrinsics

2017-07-10 Thread Ghislain Antony Vaillant
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Ghislain Antony Vaillant

* Package name: xsimd
  Version : 3.0.0
Upstream Author : Johan Mabille and Sylvain Corlay
* URL : https://github.com/QuantStack/xsimd
* License : BSD
  Programming Lang: C++
Description : C++ wrappers for SIMD intrinsics

Long-Description:
SIMD (Single Instruction, Multiple Data) is a feature of microprocessors
that has been available for many years. SIMD instructions perform a
single operation on a batch of values at once, and thus provide a way to
significantly accelerate code execution. However, these instructions
differ between microprocessor vendors and compilers.
 .
xsimd provides a unified means for using these features for library
authors. Namely, it enables manipulation of batches of numbers with the
same arithmetic operators as for single values. It also provides
accelerated implementation of common mathematical functions operating
 on batches.

The xsimd library is part of the xtensor stack. It will be maintained by
the Debian Science Team alongside the rest of the xtensor libraries.

Bug#867920: ITP: libjlargearrays-java -- Java library for one dimensional arrays up to 2^63 elements

  Version : 1.6
  Upstream Author : Piotr Wendykier
* URL : https://gitlab.com/ICM-VisLab/JLargeArrays
* License : BSD-2-Clause
  Programming Lang: Java
Description : Java library for one dimensional arrays up to 2^63 elements

Current implementations of Java Virtual Machines allow the creation of
one-dimensional arrays of length smaller than 2^31 elements.
JLargeArrays addresses the problem of maximal size of one-dimensional
Java arrays providing classes that can store up to 2^63 primitive
elements.

JLargeArrays provides the abstract class for primitive types, as well
as the non abstract classes for Number classes, String, bit values,
complex numbers, and objects. It also supports subarrays.

This package is a common dependency on scientific java software where
the 2^31 number of elements is a common issue.

I tried with a smaller tar file first, but you need to be at least 4 or
8KB depending on gzip version to trigger the rsyncable window size thing
so I used the other sample which resulted in different files for each
gzip version.
