The latter, I think. It adds in support for Xen DomU, and kernel-package obliges. The only difference, at this point, is in the name of the kernel image, it can be installed and used as a normal kernel as well. Maybe... but how to do? dpkg -i linux-xenu-2.6.31_custom.1.0_amd64.deb installs /boot/xenu-linux-2.6.31 and this does not get included by grub. I see the move to the split configuration files in /etc/smokeping/config.d already deprecated the README.Debian note: the persistent CGI just checks if /etc/smokeping/config has been modified but not the separate files @included from it. Well, I'd say this is a bug... Fair enough. I doubt it will be fixed though, I think getting automatic reloading is not worth the effort (particularly because the original problem described #397609 is so hard to reproduce.) So having to kill speedy_backends is now expected behaviour and not a bug. I'll update the init.d message and README.Debian. In fact, /etc/init.d/smokeping could do it itself. Here is what I do to reload the smokeping configuration: /etc/init.d/smokeping reload killall speedy_backend Yeah, combined with some more checks for just those speedy_backends related to smokeping would make this an adequate solution. Hmm gtk-doc is a pain to debug; the change you mention added a grep on the gtkdoc-mkhtml --help output to see if it supports --path; the test is absolutely hideous: - cd $(srcdir)/html gtkdoc-mkhtml --path=$(srcdir) $(DOC_MODULE) ../$(DOC_MAIN_SGML_FILE) $(MKHTML_OPTIONS) + mkhtml_options=; \ + gtkdoc-mkhtml 21 --help | grep /dev/null \-\-path; \ + if test $(?) = 0; then \ + mkhtml_options=--path=$(srcdir); \ + fi + cd $(srcdir)/html gtkdoc-mkhtml $(mkhtml_options) $(MKHTML_OPTIONS) $(DOC_MODULE) ../$(DOC_MAIN_SGML_FILE) but I an not sure how it would cause this output: Usage: gtkdoc-mkhtml MODULE DRIVER_FILE NB: the missing ; after fi was fixed subsequently. I think it would be important to identify exactly which bits of gtk-doc cause the output of gtkdocize to rely on new gtk-doc at build-time and fix that in gtk-doc upstream and in stable or some bpo baseline repo. Well, you asked for it, don't do that. As indicated by --force-help, usage of those specific options you used there “can seriously damage your installation” which is what happened. Dpkg ignored the request to install new perl-modules. Silently. Why? I didn't read 'seriously damage your installation' as 'ignore some command-line requests'. To try to get out of the situation dpkg tries to remove a package, because you added --force-depends then it ignored any problem and considered it an ok solution. The --force-conflicts gets considered later on. Check what apt is doing. Cupt should not use force options on --unpack, --install, --configure or --triggers-only. Ideally no front-end would need to use force options, but using --force-depends on --purge and --remove seems kind of reasonable for now I guess. Is it the expected behavior? Yes. The newly created files can have gid of either current gid of the running process or gid of the parent directory. The SYSV (and linux) have as a default process while the BSD (and GNU/kFreeBSD) have as a default parent directory. See i.e. man mount, Mount options for ext2: grpid or bsdgroups / nogrpid or sysvgroups These options define what group id a newly created file gets. When grpid is set, it takes the group id of the directory in which it is created; otherwise (the default) it takes the fsgid of the current process, unless the directory has the setgid bit set, in which case it takes the gid from the parent directory, and also gets the setgid bit set if it is a directory itself. Bug#555892: RFP: ptouch-driver -- CUPS/Foomatic driver for Brother P-touch label printers
Package: wnpp Severity: normal http://www.diku.dk/hjemmesider/ansatte/panic/P-touch/ has the program ptouch-driver, which is a driver for CUPS and Foomatic for Brother P-touch label printers. I made a quick-and-dirty package for myself, diff.gz attached. Note that I am _not_ willing to maintain this myself, unfortunately. I will soon be far away from my label printer. The diff contains a fix that works for at least the QL-550 model, which seems to have 275 dpi pixel density along one axis, and 300 on the other. The upstream code assumes 300 for both. The incorrect density makes the label cutter cut at the wrong place (in the middle of a label, rather than between them). I've informed the upstream author of this. Other than that, the package is extremely straightforward to make, using dh (or cups, I assume). When I installed my package, and added the printer via the GNOME printer admin tool, it generated a PPD file in /etc/cups/ppd/Brother-QL-550.ppd, which works otherwise fine, but the ImageableArea settings are wrong, and make it impossible to print near the edges of the labels. I fixed this by editing the file manually, since I could not figure out how that file gets generated and fix the source of the wrong settings. I'm attaching the manually edited file as well. Someone who understands the whole CUPS system should figure out the proper fix. ptouch-driver_1.3-1.diff.gz Description: GNU Zip compressed data *PPD-Adobe: 4.3 *% *% For information on using this, and to obtain the required backend *% script, consult http://www.openprinting.org/ *% *% This file is published under the GNU General Public License *% *% PPD-O-MATIC (4.0.0 or newer) generated this PPD file. Bug#555896: aptitude: dist-upgrade doesn't install new essential pkgs from non-default release
Package: aptitude Version: 0.4.11.11-1~lenny1 Severity: normal I have a pinning setup where all packages are pulled from the stable release with some exceptions which are pulled from testing. All relevant config files are included below. After adding the testing repo line to ``sources.list`` and setting APT's pinning preferences, running ``apt-get dist-upgrade`` finds new essential packages from testing and installs them. However, under the same situation, running ``aptitude dist-upgrade`` doesn't install anything. After installing them manually or using ``apt-get``, they are correctly regarded as essential by Aptitude. Assuming that the behaviour of ``apt-get`` is right (see #216768), Aptitude should also install the new essential packages when ``dist-upgrade`` is run. Thanks! Bug#555892: RFP: ptouch-driver -- CUPS/Foomatic driver for Brother P-touch, label printers
Thank you for your work on packaging the ptouch driver. I have tried it and I have done the following changes: 1. I have corrected the upstream version number of the Debian package. It must be 0.13. 2. I have added a margin definition to the driver/ptouch.xml file assuming zero margins. Now the PPD coming out is the same as your hand-edited PPD. I did not do the following yet, but I would do it when making a Ubuntu package: 1. The 2 changes in the original source code should be supplied as patches 2. There should be a post-install script updating the PPD files of already existing print queues as all Ubuntu printer driver packages have. The new ptouch-driver_0.13-1.diff.gz is attached. make sure to rename the upstream tarball to ptouch-driver_0.13.orig.tar.gz when using the new .diff.gz. When devices are unmapped from storage, rdac patch checker sets the path state for those devices as ghost. As a reason dm issues mode select to failover path group and fails with 0x59100, which eventually ends up with ping pong between path groups resulting in I/O hang. In rdac path checker, we need to check if devices are not connected, mark it as failed. This patch adds check for Peripheral Qualifier (PQ) Peripheral Device type(PDT) of Inquiry data and fails the path if either 1) PQ is set to 0x1 or 2) PQ set to 0x11 and PDT set to 0x1F. BTW: It is important that udev runs on 2.6.26 because this is the highest kernel version of debian suported xen kernel. -- Package-specific info: -- /etc/udev/rules.d/: /etc/udev/rules.d/: total 8 -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 3399 Oct 8 23:31 70-persistent-cd.rules -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 1064 Sep 29 18:54 70-persistent-net.rules lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 20 Jul 15 14:17 z60_xen-backend.rules - ../xen-backend.rules -- /sys/: /sys/devices/LNXSYSTM:00/LNXPWRBN:00/input/input4/event4/dev /sys/devices/LNXSYSTM:00/device:00/PNP0C0C:00/input/input5/event5/dev /sys/devices/pci:00/:00:06.0/:0a:00.0/host0/target0:0:0/0:0:0:0/block/sda/dev /sys/devices/pci:00/:00:06.0/:0a:00.0/host0/target0:0:0/0:0:0:0/block/sda/sda1/dev /sys/devices/pci:00/:00:06.0/:0a:00.0/host0/target0:0:0/0:0:0:0/bsg/0:0:0:0/dev /sys/devices/pci:00/:00:06.0/:0a:00.0/host0/target0:0:0/0:0:0:0/scsi_generic/sg0/dev /sys/devices/pci:00/:00:06.0/:0a:00.0/host0/target0:0:16/0:0:16:0/bsg/0:0:16:0/dev /sys/devices/pci:00/:00:06.0/:0a:00.0/host0/target0:0:16/0:0:16:0/scsi_generic/sg1/dev /sys/devices/pci:00/:00:1d.0/usb2/2-0:1.0/usb_endpoint/usbdev2.1_ep81/dev /sys/devices/pci:00/:00:1d.0/usb2/dev /sys/devices/pci:00/:00:1d.0/usb2/usb_device/usbdev2.1/dev /sys/devices/pci:00/:00:1d.0/usb2/usb_endpoint/usbdev2.1_ep00/dev /sys/devices/pci:00/:00:1d.0/usbmon/usbmon2/dev /sys/devices/pci:00/:00:1d.1/usb3/3-0:1.0/usb_endpoint/usbdev3.1_ep81/dev /sys/devices/pci:00/:00:1d.1/usb3/dev /sys/devices/pci:00/:00:1d.1/usb3/usb_device/usbdev3.1/dev /sys/devices/pci:00/:00:1d.1/usb3/usb_endpoint/usbdev3.1_ep00/dev /sys/devices/pci:00/:00:1d.1/usbmon/usbmon3/dev /sys/devices/pci:00/:00:1d.2/usb4/4-0:1.0/usb_endpoint/usbdev4.1_ep81/dev /sys/devices/pci:00/:00:1d.2/usb4/dev /sys/devices/pci:00/:00:1d.2/usb4/usb_device/usbdev4.1/dev /sys/devices/pci:00/:00:1d.2/usb4/usb_endpoint/usbdev4.1_ep00/dev /sys/devices/pci:00/:00:1d.2/usbmon/usbmon4/dev /sys/devices/pci:00/:00:1d.3/usb5/5-0:1.0/usb_endpoint/usbdev5.1_ep81/dev /sys/devices/pci:00/:00:1d.3/usb5/dev /sys/devices/pci:00/:00:1d.3/usb5/usb_device/usbdev5.1/dev /sys/devices/pci:00/:00:1d.3/usb5/usb_endpoint/usbdev5.1_ep00/dev /sys/devices/pci:00/:00:1d.3/usbmon/usbmon5/dev /sys/devices/pci:00/:00:1d.7/usb1/1-0:1.0/usb_endpoint/usbdev1.1_ep81/dev /sys/devices/pci:00/:00:1d.7/usb1/1-8/1-8:1.0/host2/target2:0:0/2:0:0:0/block/sr2/dev /sys/devices/pci:00/:00:1d.7/usb1/1-8/1-8:1.0/host2/target2:0:0/2:0:0:0/bsg/2:0:0:0/dev /sys/devices/pci:00/:00:1d.7/usb1/1-8/1-8:1.0/host2/target2:0:0/2:0:0:0/scsi_generic/sg4/dev /sys/devices/pci:00/:00:1d.7/usb1/1-8/1-8:1.0/usb_endpoint/usbdev1.2_ep02/dev /sys/devices/pci:00/:00:1d.7/usb1/1-8/1-8:1.0/usb_endpoint/usbdev1.2_ep81/dev /sys/devices/pci:00/:00:1d.7/usb1/1-8/1-8:1.1/host3/target3:0:0/3:0:0:0/block/sr0/dev /sys/devices/pci:00/:00:1d.7/usb1/1-8/1-8:1.1/host3/target3:0:0/3:0:0:0/bsg/3:0:0:0/dev /sys/devices/pci:00/:00:1d.7/usb1/1-8/1-8:1.1/host3/target3:0:0/3:0:0:0/scsi_generic/sg2/dev /sys/devices/pci:00/:00:1d.7/usb1/1-8/1-8:1.1/usb_endpoint/usbdev1.2_ep04/dev /sys/devices/pci:00/:00:1d.7/usb1/1-8/1-8:1.1/usb_endpoint/usbdev1.2_ep83/dev /sys/devices/pci:00/:00:1d.7/usb1/1-8/1-8:1.2/host4/target4:0:0/4:0:0:0/block/sr1/dev /sys/devices/pci:00/:00:1d.7/usb1/1-8/1-8:1.2/host4/target4:0:0/4:0:0:0/bsg/4:0:0:0/dev /sys/devices/pci:00/:00:1d.7/usb1/1-8/1-8:1.2/host4/target4:0:0/4:0:0:0/scsi_generic/sg3/dev /sys/devices/pci:00/:00:1d.7/usb1/1-8/1-8:1.2/usb_endpoint/usbdev1.2_ep06/dev /sys/devices/pci:00/:00:1d.7/usb1/1-8/1-8:1.2/usb_endpoint/usbdev1.2_ep85/dev /sys/devices/pci:00/:00:1d.7/usb1/1-8/1-8:1.3/host5/target5:0:0/5:0:0:0/block/sr3/dev /sys/devices/pci:00/:00:1d.7/usb1/1-8/1-8:1.3/host5/target5:0:0/5:0:0:0/bsg/5:0:0:0/dev /sys/devices/pci:00/:00:1d.7/usb1/1-8/1-8:1.3/host5/target5:0:0/5:0:0:0/scsi_generic/sg5/dev /sys/devices/pci:00/:00:1d.7/usb1/1-8/1-8:1.3/usb_endpoint/usbdev1.2_ep08/dev /sys/devices/pci:00/:00:1d.7/usb1/1-8/1-8:1.3/usb_endpoint/usbdev1.2_ep87/dev /sys/devices/pci:00/:00:1d.7/usb1/1-8/1-8:1.4/input/input2/event2/dev /sys/devices/pci:00/:00:1d.7/usb1/1-8/1-8:1.4/input/input2/js0/dev /sys/devices/pci:00/:00:1d.7/usb1/1-8/1-8:1.4/input/input2/mouse1/dev /sys/devices/pci:00/:00:1d.7/usb1/1-8/1-8:1.4/usb_endpoint/usbdev1.2_ep89/dev

Bug#555904: zim: crash on Time Date insert
Package: zim Version: 0.25-1 Severity: normal The Zim crashes each time I try to insert Date Time. I tried bot ways - through Insert menu option and Ctrl+D hotkey.
