Ok -- this problem has been fixed upstream. It's an issue with
xserver-xorg-input-wacom. It's fixed in 0.10.8, for which no Debian
package exists yet.

The bug is present in 0.10.5+20100416-1 which is the latest version

otf-ipaexfont-{mincho,gothic} provide alternatives
ttf-japanese-{mincho,gothic}. However, otf-ipaexfont-{mincho,gothic}
is placed in /usr/share/fonts/opentype/ipaexfont/. Thus, some packages
related TeX(especially, dvips) can't search Japanese font file.

In squeeze, many Japanese users might use otf-ipaexfont and can't use
dvips correctly.

In the task selection menu, I wasn't sure how to select/deselect individual
tasks.  I ended up putting the cursor on the first box (graphical desktop
install) and hitting enter to see what would happen.  Well, the system
raced off and started doing a graphical desktop install - which I didn't
want!  The only option seemed to be to abort the install and start again
from the beginning.

I now see that some other screens have a note at the bottom 'space to
select'.  I think this would help considerably on the tasks menu.

Bug#600589: hostapd+bridge doesn't work if hostapd is not run as a daemon in squeeze

So basically, if I do bridge first, then run hostapd as a daemon, it 
used to work, but with a newer kernel it doesn't, because the bridge 
needs wlan0 to be in master mode already, which is the job of hostapd. 
If I do hostapd first via /etc/network/interfaces, then the bridge from 
the same file, then everything starts up without an error, but I can't 
do WPA, only after I restart hostapd.


I found a workaround for the first case: iwconfig wlan0 mode master 
doesn't work, but pre-up iw dev wlan0 set type __ap does the job. It 
sets the card to master mode, then the bridge can be set up, then 
hostapd starts as a daemon and everything is working fine again.


So now the real problem remains, the second case: if hostapd is run from 
/etc/network/interfaces and I set up a bridge in the same file, then 
hostapd either doesn't receive EAPOL responses or sends the EAPOL 
requests to the wrong place and I get EAPOL timeouts in the syslog. 
Bottom line: no WPA.


Check this interfaces file:

I'm guessing what it does is this: bring up eth0, then run hostapd in 
the pre-up stage, then bring up wlan0, then bring up the bridge. The 
problem could be that hostapd doesn't see the bridge when it starts up, 
or some property of the bridge or wlan0 changes after it started up.


I grabbed myself a hostapd source code, so if you could give some 
pointers where to look, I'd be glad to help. How do I debug where it 
sends EAPOL requests? How do I debug where it expects EAPOL responses from?

That's for maintaining maildir-utils. I maintain mairix (apparently a
competiting system) and this mu seems interesting! 

To reproduce the bug, try to output the message-id for any message in
the system using the field option to 'mu find' like:

  mu find -f i EXAMPLE

The result will not shown any message-ids but will just repeat the
letter i. The problem seems to be that that message-id is being stored
as a Xapian term but not as a value. As a result, it can be searched
for, but not displayed.

I'm attaching a patch that solves the problem on my system. I don't know
the codebase well enough to know if I've fixed in this in the right
way.

Other than closing the bug, no.  This is not a udev problem, and in
Squeeze the incompatibility between nouveau.ko and the nv video driver
is addressed already (nv will refuse to load if kernel mode setting is
in place).

I've finished writing the man page, and I've set up a git repository on
github that I think is the right format with upstream and master branches (I
am new to git): http://github.com/jeremysalwen/lv2file  I think my package
is pretty much ready except for the unknown unknowns.

Reading over the wiki page, I don't feel comfortable joining the team.  It
says:

we expect from you that you:
*are familiar with managing bugs in debian.
*agree to review other's work (patches and packages).

I am not familiar with managing bugs in debian.

Also,  I don't really feel comfortable reviewing other's work.  I'm not that
experienced of a programmer, and probably wouldn't understand how most of
the other packages work.  I'd be happy to contribute a few packages of my
own and maintain them, but I don't want to take responsibilities for
handling other people's code that I don't really feel qualified to do.

I don't know if I should be a junior member of the team, but I certainly
don't meet the expectations for joining the group,

Switching the text language does not seem to help.
This bug appears to be specific to Debian OOo. I cannot reproduce it with
upstream OOo or LibreOffice and a person on Finnish OOo mailing list reported 
that
it does not occur in OOo packages provided by Ubuntu or OpenSUSE either.

I've applied your patches locally, made some tiny changes
and included the result below.
(I moved 2 decls down, and made indentation more consistent)

Two things remain to be done:

  - add a sentence or two for NEWS; the idea is to be as brief as possible
  while still giving enough of the details so people don't have to
  go look at the commit logs or -- gasp! -- the code.

  - a recipe or two (the more the merrier) for tests that fail
  without your patch, but pass with it.
  For a change of this size and complexity, I would be remiss
  not to include at least one or two patches.  It's ok (expected
  even) that the tests will run only on an s390 and will be skipped
  on other systems.

I've lightly modified words from your email to make the log
message below.  If you'd like something different there, let me know.

I haven't tested these changes at all, but should be able
to do so next week.

Subject: [PATCH] s390: improve/correct DASD support

The long title would be corrections to partition size and location
calculations for type 1 partitions for s390 dasd.

This could be treated as two separate fixes, one to make corrections
for LDL formatted disks and one to add support for CMS formatted
disks.  I see CMS formatted disks as a variant of LDL formatted
disks, with the additional twist that CMS formatted disks can
be reserved or recomped, which LDL formatted disks cannot be.
This affects the size and location of the partition.

With these patches, parted matches the behavior of the Linux kernel
in recognizing partitions on CMS- and LDL-formatted disks, as documented
in the Linux kernel source code in routine fs/partitions/ibm.c.
Calculation of the metadata has also been changed so that parted will
show no free space on such a disk.  In some cases there are now two
non-contiguous metadata extents: one at the beginning of the disk and
one at the end.

As before, parted only supports CKD DASD using the ECKD driver.
FBA DASD and CKD DASD using the DIAG driver are still not supported.

In my regression testing I have discovered some problems in the area
of recognizing file system options.  However, since I can duplicate
these errors on a version of parted which does not contain my changes,
I have concluded that my changes did not cause this and therefore
this is an unrelated bug.

Bug#601081: linux-image-2.6.32-5-686: since latest kernel upgrade, computer often freezes after resume from hibernation

Since the latest upgrade, my Laptop, a Lenovo 3000 N100 more often than not
fails to properly come back from hibernation. It gets as far as reading the
resume image, and at the moment when I think it switches to graphical mode, it
hangs. All hard disk activity ceases, but the system LEDs do not  flash, i.e.
there is probably no kernel panic.

Suspend to RAM seems to be unaffected by this.

generates grub.cfg with lines like linux /boot/vmlinuz-. and initrd

/initrd.img. like it should in the case of separate partition. This leads
to non-bootable system with an error:

When update-grub creates /boot/grub/grub.cfg, it writes the following

Instead of /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.32-5-amd64, the pathname
/vmlinuz-2.6.32-5-amd64 should be used; likewise for the initrd image.

It seems the issue lies either in how the grub-mkrelpath program
behaves or how it is invoked in /etc/grub.d/10_linux. 10_linux calls
'grub-mkrelpath /boot', which outputs '/boot'. I would have expected
an empty string.

The commands

  grub-mkrelpath /boot
  grub-mkrelpath /boot/
  grub-mkrelpath /boot/.

all output '/boot' while e.g.

  grub-mkrelpath /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.32-5-amd64

outputs '/vmlinuz-2.6.32-5-amd64'.

Sorry for taking so long to answer. Actually I wasn't maintaing mondo
any longer, but since andree seen to be too busy I had taken a look into
mondo again to check afio issue.
So far mondo cannot work without afio, and it is too late to even try to
make a patch for mondo to use any replacement.
So if afio goes out of the archive mondo should go out too.
If afio is keep on the archive until ater release I can try to talk with
upstream to see if there is any change to move away from using afio.

Hello. I try to convert video file for PSP (Sony Play Station

1. Run arista
2. Choose Source as file on disk. I use .mkv, but I think this is not

It's very likely that this change would break Start new session feature of 
KDE which works fine at the moment. While I could live with having it broken 
on kFreeBSD, that's definitely not acceptable for Linux where this problem 
does not manifest itself.

The bug we are facing here is that kdm starts on vt2 when it's not supposed to 
even bother with VTs below 7. ServerVTs=-7 setting in /etc/kde4/kdm/kdmrc 
takes care of it (on Linux). However, apparently ServerVTs does not work on 
kfbsd for some reason (nor it's present in default kdmrc). Finding that reason 
would be the real fix and I will look into it later today/tomorrow. It could 
be as easy as #define which does not cover kfbsd (I hope).

yes... (my patch from last night might be all that's needed, but it won't 
hurt to look for other holes over the next day - Friday night patches

I've now had chance to review the diff; apologies for the delay.  It
turns out that a lot of the changes are JavaDoc or the reformatting of
method headers or calls, although the latter particularly didn't help

Having looked through the list of upstream bugfixes, I'd be happy to
unblock those, but:

 * Enable rxtx support:

Attached patch fixes the issue for me by disabling two model tests that 
need working network. Tested in sid pbuilder with deactivated network 
(after build-deps were fetched :)).
