I came up with a slightly different set of commands that reproduce this

the moment GNOME blanks the screen (the second setting in power saving
options in GNOME settings). Sometimes, additionally, after 10-15 more

invoking `xset dpms force off` also results in the system freezing.
Interestingly, the system was responsive via ssh for another couple seconds

Yesterday I installed and tested a dozen or so kernel images from
snapshot.debian.org starting with 5.10.197-1 and ending with

This was pretty puzzling for me until I noticed that the penultimate line in
the script is wrong. It should have been

treatment, because e.g. it's difficult to md5sum a directory
- care should be taken for race conditions (file existed on the initial
scan, but disappeared by the time we got to statting it)

I still cannot reproduce this.
My feeling is that it might have been a memory corruption around ignored
contacts, which might have been fixed since it was reported. Can you

Apparently there is a pipe() just 9 lines above the hanging read(),
which returns FD 3 and 4. So it's waiting for input from a child
process, and we need a "-f" strace to find out what's going on inside
it.

Sounds like a good idea. I think the way to implement it is to just run
the explain scripts and scan the filter files to find out which
matches/outputs the filename.

Can you please explain what you meant by "perhaps smaller yet, as it is
still 8-bit."?
I'm far from being an expert on PNG format, so if you could provide a
command line that makes the file as small as possible, that would be
great.
