It would be helpful if someone can point to a Debian package succesfully

I will have a look at applying the patch to trixie, then - since there
is unfortunately little hope that the whole Haskell stack will get
upgrading any time soon, so wi can have a more modern Pandoc.

I think it should be set as minimally as possible - and clearly
documented.
E.g. only within the rules known to specifically need it, not loaded
into the global make environment across all make targets.

Yes, sounds like I have plenty to work with now.
Also, it just occured to me that independent of fixing the locale bug
properly in the packages - which should be done targeted unstable - I am
fine doing NMUs targeted experimental with same fix applied. This
should not interfere with Sco

maintain 600+ packages. All my experience is however done
project-centric, and I feel totally alienated by the multi-project
packaging approach practiced in the Haskell and Rust teams.
So no, I cannot (or rather will not invest needed time to learn to)

Perhaps this really is bug#1010179 and the "fix" only papered over the

only the default of having tests disabled?

ive approach is, as you sort-of say yourself, to bypass
Debian and build the package some other way. That might be simpler at
first but painful to maintain, or the other way around, or all great - I
really don't know, because my interest is the collective Debian way.
Hope that helps (a bit),

afar), then please do elaborate what was on your mind. :-)
Also, I lowered severity since RevealJS is not in Debian (please
consider filing a so-called RFP: see

problem of the package having an ABI towards filters that is currently
not tracked at the Debian packaging level.

Hi,
Recent releases of Pandoc need these:
* hslua-module-system >= 0.2 && < 0.3
* tasty-lua >= 0.2 && < 0.3
Would be nice if someone in the team could package them.
NB! Please do *not* upload a Pandoc without coordinating with me.
Kind regards,

different versions of pandoc-types, and strongly depend on that being
identical at runtime.
I will look into having pandoc provide a virtual package indicating its
"ABI" of which pandoc-types it was compiled against, and then have
pandoc-sidenote depend on that ABI.
Thanks for reporting

Thanks for the bugreport, Francesco, and for the quick reply, John.
In fact, upstream bugfix require only unfuzzing to apply to the older
Debian release of Pandoc. Compiling now...

the complexity of backporting Haskell libraries. It might be possible
to install pandoc from Debian testing onto a Debian stable system,
however - at your own risk, obviously (personally I wouldn't mix and
also do not use backports.debian.org).

Please do not just grant more powers to me specifically: I don't want to
have powers over others in this team, thank you.

feel that package is better handled as part of the big set m

Also, I like being able to maintain single packages: Feels more
inclusive to me.
I have similar concerns for the Rust team, who did a similar approach -
the approach taken by the Perl team is more to my liking.
