no support for NFS locking.
The 2.1.x kernel does have support for NFS locking but is still under
development. I expect a 2.2 Linux kernel release in 6 months or so ..

This is strange, it should find the NIS master after a reboot and
just continue. Have you considered setting up a NIS slave server to
see if it solves the problems? Besides, it's always a good idea to
run a slave server just in case.

When uucico is invoked by the uudaemon.hr (I've mentioned an entry in

Create a /usr/opt and make /opt a symlink to it (ln -s /usr/opt /opt)

When I checked /proc/interrupts , there is no assignment for IRQ 3 . I
have no idea what to do next .
That's right, the IRQ is only allocated when the port is in use. Multiple
ports can use the same IRQ, only not at the same time (with ISA that is).

mentioned, you can use init 1
or telinit 1 to go single user. However you can also just use
shutdown now. The absence of the -r (reboot) and -h (halt) flag will
cause shutdown to go to single user mode.
