Bonjour, Je suis sous Debian Sid (à jour !) et je rencontre un problème de résolution. La console en grande police au démarrage ne m'a pas mis la puce à l'oreille ... Je viens de faire une des plus grosse boulettes que je pouvais faire sur linux... un CHMOD sur la racine..en récursif bien sur, j'ai appuyé sur la touche entrée beaucoup trop tôt...bref, l'erreur est faite. Toutes les permissions spécial on sauté et je n'arrive plus a me connecter avec aucun utilisateur via putty. Par chance, j'ai gardé ma connexion active... Comment est ce que je peux récupérer ma connexion distante ? Avez vous une liste des dossiers qui ont des permissions spécial ? j'ai essayé avec des grep mais j'ai aucun retour. Pour l'instant je check a la main chaque répertoire notamment /bin /sbin /usr/bin et /usr/sbin..etc..en remettant les bon droits mais pour l'instant ça n'a pas l'air d'améliorer la chose... j'en profite pour vous souhaitez de joyeuse fêtes a tous ! Tu as un backup de tes données? En gros mettre quasiment un full-access sur tous les fichiers de la machine... Au moins tout le monde aura assez de droits, mais niveau sécurité c'est horrible ! En plus, certains fichiers demandent des autorisations spéciales pour fonctionner (comme le .ssh,...). Ca ne remettra pas non plus les droits spéciaux genre SUID (doute sur le nom ?). La solution du backup ou réinstall reste la meilleure, au moins pour le système. Sinon regarde si tu as un autre serveur IDENTIQUE, et faire un script pour récup les droits et les réappliquer. Full access pour le proprio + groupe et lecture+exécution pour les others. Sinon : #chmod -Rf 755 * .* Si ça pose problème, ça peut déjà dépanner et permet de réfléchir ensuite à une solution. La majorité des fichiers sont en 755. Les droits des fichiers peuvent se faire à la mano, répertoire par répertoire, il n'y en a pas tant que ça. Je viens de faire une des plus grosse boulettes que je pouvais faire sur linux... un CHMOD sur la racine..en récursif bien sur, j'ai appuyé sur la touche entrée beaucoup trop tôt...bref, l'erreur est faite. Toutes les permissions spécial on sauté et je n'arrive plus a me connecter avec aucun utilisateur via putty. Par chance, j'ai gardé ma connexion active... Comment est ce que je peux récupérer ma connexion distante ? Avez vous une liste des dossiers qui ont des permissions spécial ? j'ai essayé avec des grep mais j'ai aucun retour. Pour l'instant je check a la main chaque répertoire notamment /bin /sbin /usr/bin et /usr/sbin..etc..en remettant les bon droits mais pour l'instant ça n'a pas l'air d'améliorer la chose... j'en profite pour vous souhaitez de joyeuse fêtes a tous ! Bonjour et bonnes fêtes! J'utilise wheezy avec le noyau 3.2.0-2 sans problèmes sur un PC acer Aspire T180 (de 2006) depuis août dernier. Par contre les versions 3.2.0-3 et 3.2.0-4 plantent le boot. Je n'ai pas les connaissances pour en donner la raison :-( Pour l'instant ça fonctionne, mais je crains une mise à jour qui pourrait ??? supprimer cette version... Pour pouvoir faire fonctionner les deux ecrans il faut definir une variable Virtual (et lui donner la valeur 3840 3840) dans le fichier xorg.conf. Ce fichier n'existe plus car xorg se debrouille pour le creer a la volee mais si tu veux utiliser Virtual il faut en faire un. Enfin c'est ce que j'ai du faire il y a un certain temps et cela marchait. Dans sid je ne sais pas trop quelles sont les versions de xorg et xrandr et donc ca a pu changer. J'ai lu que des pilotes Linux d'imprimantes Samsung ont été créés avec le noyau 2.6.X et ne fonctionnent plus avec les noyaux supérieurs. Samsung n'a pas porté ces pilotes avec les noyaux 3.X.X. C'est, fort heureusement, rarement le cas sur cette liste. Ce coup de sang vient plutôt du milieu professionnel ou se croyant tel. Ceci étant, la confusion dimension/résolution est un grand classique. Même si on peut déduire l'une de l'autre, on éviterai bien des questions si on utilisait le bon terme au bon endroit. Problema con Debian, C y MySQL
Buenas, estoy haciendo un programa en lenguaje C (de momento no uso C++) y estoy usando el conector de C que tiene MySQL. El problema viene con que uso gran cantidad de datos que son numeros (int y char) y la función mysql_query del conector sólo acepta cadenas de texto. Probando, he encontrado una forma de convertir de int a char y de char a int, que parecen funcionar bien, para formar la cadena de texto que se necesita como parámetro para myql_query estoy usando la función strcat, de esa forma formo la cadena de texto final a base de partes de texto. Problema, estoy viendo que el uso continuo de esas funciones de esa forma produce un segmentation fault. Es un bucle anidado de 1000x1000 y salta por los aires en el 99. Recuerdo haber leido, y para colmo no me acuerdo donde, que las funciones de string,h hay que usarlas con moderacion por algun motivo. Viendo la dorucmentacion del conector, la funcion mysql_query parece la unica para las ordenes a la base de datos PERO solo acepta texto. Entonces, ¿que usar para enviar y recibir numeros, sean int o char? Estoy usando Debian estable, con MySQL y gcc. Se me ocurre posiblemente una posible codificación sobre la cadena es decir: trabajar sobre longint posiblemente. ejemplo burdo: echo cadena | sha1sum 8ab5f7ef21630a3e961196f8483639101bf59629 enc(8ab5f7ef21630a3e961196f8483639101bf59629) = retorna un coding binario u algo especifico que pueda caber en 4 bytes de longint. para solo procesar numeros. quiza sea muy volado pero bueno. dec(binario) = 8ab5f7ef21630a3e961196f8483639101bf5962 slds. La codificacion no parece ser el origen del problema, hice dos pequeños programas en C explicitamente para probarla y no dan problemas. Por otra parte, el ejemplo que has puesto no se si me sirve. El problema es meter datos numericos (int o char, principalmente) desde el programa en C a MySQL, y realizar lo mismo pero al reves. Tomo nota, pero parece que el error se produce al usar las funciones strcat y strcpy dentro del bucle. En los ejemplos de esa web el parametro de mysql_query tambien es una cadena de caracteres. Esto me choca porque evidentemente mysql acepta tipos de datos numericos. Puede que sea una tonteria, pero he pensado que puede ser un problema de velocidad, quiza las funciones de string.h se ejecutan demasiado rapido y por eso el programa da segmentation fault. Pues lo mas probable es que sea ahí. strcat y strcpy reciben un puntero a una cadena destino que debe ser lo bastante larga para contener lo que se añade o copia. Gente buenas tardes mil disculpas por este recontra off, necesito poner en mi cpu un visor donde pueda pasar cierta información del sistema, similar a los visores que miden la temperatura y demás busque en google pero no logro dar con ello tal vez no estoy especificando bien el nombre de este por que nos e como se llama, ¿alguien sabe donde puedo conseguir info sobre esto?. Hola colegas, Felices fiestas para todos Amigos como en un PDC con ldap+samba puedo configurar para que la contraseña caduque por ejemplo en 30 días y que tenga valides como mínimo 1 día, como ocurre en Pantallazos (windows). Modificar la resolución del monitor en las vm de virtualbox
Hola colegas Feliz navidad para todos y muchas cosas buenas para el próximo año, una ves mas necesito de su ayuda es que hay algo en el virtualbox que no acabo de entender, tengo varias maquinas virtuales entre ellas una que tiene booteo Dual Ubuntu12.04win7. Necesito que cuando virtualbox arranque esa vm lo haga en 1024x768 y no en 640x480 como lo está haciendo ahora, mi pregunta es la siguiente se puede modificar la resolución del monitor de la vm para que use una por defecto, estuve leyendo en la documentación de virtualbox y hay algunos comandos que según dicen allí modifican estos valores a nuestro gusto pero no he tenido éxito. Estoy usando la ultima versión de virtualbox para debian squeeze (virtualbox-4.2_4.2.0-8073squeeze_i386.deb), he intentado con estos comandos pero todo sigue igual. Bueno no se si me explico desde el S.O Ubuntu 12.04 puedo modificar la resolución a 1024x768 y ya en ese momento puedo trabajar cómodamente a pantalla completa, pero en Win7 no me da la opción de elegir pues me obliga a trabajar obligatoriamente a 800x600 y no me permite subir la resolución, también he probado instalando los Guest Additions pero tampoco he tenido suerte me dice que hay problemas en un módulo y que el servicio falló o no puede iniciar, nopongo mas detalles del error por que en este momento estoy apelando a la memoria y no estoy en mi PC. Bueno sigo investigando si alguien ha chocado con esto por favor puede darme una ayuda muchas gracias de antemano. Buen día a todos, hace 2 días estoy luchando para instalar debian 6 en mi pc. Luego de horas de búsqueda, leer documentación en inglés, buscar ayuda en foros y canales IRC he logrado instalar el sistema y dejarlo casi funcional. El único problema que aún persiste es el de mi vieja tarjeta de video nvidia que se comporta de forma muy extraña cuando inicia gdm3... He probado generar un archivo de configuración para xserver, usar distintos controladores como vesa, nv, nouveau y nada. Lo curioso es que al iniciar desde el live en modo seguro o safe mode funciona perfectamente.. Les pido disculpas estoy mal dormido y llegué muy cansado del trabajo. Mi tarjeta es una nvidia N6 vanta. Al iniciar el entorno gráfico nada en la pantalla se nuestra correctamente. Por ejemplo, se carga la imagen de fondo pero no los iconos, sí dibujas un cuadrado con el mouse los iconos de esa área se muestran, el mismo problema con los menús. Supongo debe ser un típico problema de controlador inadecuado o mala configuración... Hasta donde se al iniciar el live no se crea el archivo /etc/X11/xorg.conf pero de todas formas mañana lo voy a probar. Agradezco mucho su buena disposición para darme una mano. [OFF-TOPIC]: Convertirme en administrador de sistemas
Estimada Lista, Actualmente soy amateur y autodidacta en administración, pero pretendo darle un poco mas de formalidad. No se por donde empezar, actualmente soy Ingeniero en electrónica y tengo rendidos CCNA 1 y 2. Lo claro es que no tengo tiempo para hacer una carrera universitaria desde cero, ya que en primer lugar no estoy seguro que este disponible en mi ciudad, y en segundo lugar tengo gran parte del día ocupada entre mi trabajo como ingeniero y mi familia. Alguna idea de por donde puedo encaminarme? Algo online sería lo ideal, continuar CCNA es una opción válida, pero no se si es exacamente lo que pretendo. El objetivo es poder administrar granjas de servidores. Recientemente estuve gestionando un servidor propio, pero no tengo claro que pretendo...No se si es mas orientado a administración de sistemas o de redes, me gustaría que me ayuden con la diferencia y con la decisión. AA fonts too wide in X11 terminal emulators
Hi,
I've recently upgraded my workstation from squeeze to wheezy,
pretty much everything went fine, except a really annoying
situation: from now on, all of the AntiAliased fonts I'll use in
a terminal emulator under X11 will be too large, just like if
letter spacing had increased with this upgrade.
I have reproduced that behaviour with xterm, gnome-terminal,
xfce4-terminal and urxvt. For the latter, the following resource:
URxvt.letterSpace: -1
fixes terminal width to a correct ratio, I just can't find any
equivalent of this for all of the others terminal emulators.
I already tried playing with my DPI settings, globally and by
term, either the fonts are too wide or ridiculously small. Also
tried various ~/.fonts.conf techniques, minspace seemed to be
a good candidate, but that changed nothing.
Only one font seem to be ok though: Incosolata have the good
size and term ratio is looking good.
There are similar debian bug reports like this one:

but they are pretty old and related to a libfreetype 2.4.6 bug
whereas I'm using 2.4.9-1.

Arrgghh! Libreoffice woes!
Yesterday i installed libreoffice 3.6.4.3 alongside Debian libreoffice 3.5.4. today neither worked except via root, so i uninstalled both libreoffices with synaptic, and then re-installed Debian libreoffice with apt-get. but it does not open from the menu. how can i get it working again please? right, /config/libreoffice is renamed, but user is still unable to open it, whereas root can open it very easily. the command is ' /usr/bin/libreoffice --writer' and nothing happens with user it just sits and does nowt, where as root it opens. any ideas please folks? My goal is to get the Debian libreoffice working, and dump the source libreoffice. Is this possible please? Yes... I always use mpc and it works with no problem. Also control mpd from within emacs through emms is just fine also. huhu... sometimes I think that emacs is a really a full OS :D If you encounter the same problem with all of them, it is not the client, so probably the server. If you only have the problem with some of them, then you will have to find a better, at least, less bugged, client. Ok so it looks like mpd is not the problem. The common problems are occurring with rhythmbox and gmpc. So it is hard to know what is the problem, maybe a commonly used library between the two (rhythmbox and gmpc)? I have no idea since I do not even know them. Maybe those softwares are using their own database? You might try creating a new user and seeing if that user can open it, just to make sure it's not related to settings for existing users. I would use apt-get to purge the removal of libreoffice, then manually remove any leftover libreoffice directories I could find, then reinstall libreoffice. Lightdm doesn't load
I thought I would try out lightdm today instead of GDM3...but after installation and telling the configure script to use lightdm, I end up with a blank screen and a cursor...no login facility. I installed lightdm last night, and got it working okay. Did you do anything with /etc/lightdm/lightdm.conf ? I suspect not, but that's where its configurations are set. You need to run this 'dpkg-reconfigure lightdm' and choose 'lightdm', and you can show this by 'leafpad /etc/X11/default-display-manager' which should also show 'lightdm'. Obsidianmusic does not play music in itself, it is actually a buch of php webpages that connect to an Amarok music database. This gives you a nice view of your library within a web browser, and allows you to download or listen (depends on configuration, not both) to your music. mpd is the music player, but I was speaking about mpd as your current amarok: as a server. Amarok is only used to build the database, because it's the same format obsidianmusic uses (by design). I don't use it to actually play music, I don't even run KDE for that matter. Clients are, as I said, very varied, because mpd is quite popular. Well, to be exact, I have never heard about other music player daemon. That's rare enough for linux world to be quoted, underlined, and whatever you will want : even window managers are legion for each ways of doing things (conf via prog language, tiling, stacking a legion for all possibilities) This actually creates a .m3u file So, is the objective to build a simple m3u file? If no, please explain me more No, the m3u file is just a convenient way to start listening, as that is what the webinterface creates, the actual link inside the m3u looks like this: http://hostname/path-to-obsidianmusic/index.php?action=streamsid=22558 where the 'sid' number is the database ID of that particular song. If yes, so I want to say a few things: 1. you do not need a music player to build m3u files, they are simple text files with paths in them (hummm I want to say that they are usual linux configuration files but you might be feared). Don't worry, I'm not afraid of the command line, I administer a couple of headless Linux servers as part of my job. You could write some scripts usable with ssh. Not very user friendly... Exactly, and the point is that anyone (that I allow) should be able to access the music library and play songs from it on their own machine without the need to install anything. That is why obsidianmusic fits that job very well, only things needed are: 1) the audio files (which I upload using scp) 2) a webserver (I use Apache) 3) php 4) mysql Additionally there needs to be a single Amarok instance somewhere to update the library, but that one runs on a virtual machine on my own desktop, not the server. Clients only need a web browser and a media player that supports m3u playlists and http streaming. I don't even know of any audio player not capable of those. 2. mpd is able to build playlists (which usually are using m3u as extension) but it sounds obvious to me that it generates m3u with aboslute filenames: you will not have music embedded here. You will need to have music at same place! That would mean that only the server could actually play the music, and then possibly stream it to one or more clients. It sounds like that will not meet my requirements. It's just designed with a different goal in mind (and that's fine). However I'll set up mpd in a virtual machine and fool around with it. Weird that it doesn't work as it was installed. The impression you get from the config file is that most of the items are defaults...yet you have to uncomment them to get it working. If no one is interested in a matter, no one is going to do anything about it - especially an internet petition, whether it's on whitehouse.gov or not. Now if someone is interested in it, he/she MAY use it to garner support. But otherwise, it's ignored. What IS more effective is when Senators and Congressmen get letters (individually written, not form letters) from their constituents (actually the MOST effective is a personal visit to their office, either here in DC or in their home state/district). If someone gets several thousand letters from their constituents, they take notice. Phone calls help also, but not as much. As for the petitions. Just the fact they are on the White House site doesn't mean ANYONE is interested in them. These petitions are started by THE PEOPLE - not the White House - see https://petitions.whitehouse.gov/. The petitions are routinely ignored unless one party or the other needs them for political capital. Pretty much exactly what I said -- except the part where you seem to assert that no one is interested in the petitions posted there. Obviously, the people who place the petitions there may be interested in them. If enough people sign a petition there, I'd guess it's likely to come to the attention of someone who might do something about it. See, that's what a petition is for, to signal the minions of the powers-that-be that there might be political paydirt in one idea or another. Sign, don't sign. Big deal. But just about everyone who's used the Internet for anything has signed in some way at even more dangerous sites -- and for less laudable causes. I don't think my point was that obtuse. But then I at least use my real name and email address, not some 'nym. You do have to take some risk in order to try to stand for any idea. One can argue points about where one can do the most effective risk-taking, but none of us really knows what's going to be done with even the best ideas and intentions, regardless of how one goes about trying to get them enacted -- especially when we're talking about government (or any other big industry). I take risk. But I take it where it counts. And I participate in the government process. But I do it in a way that counts. Writing your congressman and senators has a much greater effect than signing a petition no one in the government cares about. You don't have any way of knowing who might or might not care about what's posted at whitehouse.gov. And you have no way of knowing whether or not any Congressperson or any other politico you write to or meet with really gives a hoot about your concerns. Error booting after power outage
I had a server set up with Debian Squeeze using the encrypted LVM. It was running great and up for about 40 days. We had a power flicker and now the server fails to boot... it tells me that /run/udev is not writeable, and that it can't find any LVM groups...
