[Declude.JunkMail] OT DNS Server change

2005-03-16 Thread Danny K
I registered my dns servers about 7 years ago. I want to change the IP address that they point to. The name will not change. Anyone know where this is done at or are things different now to register a dns server? --- [This E-mail was scanned for viruses by Declude Virus

You'd want to change them at the registry where you registered the domain name. And of course in your own DNS. -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Danny K Sent: Wednesday, March 16, 2005 10:43 AM To: declude.junkmail@declude.com

It is don through your domain registrar. They usually will have an online site to make the change. Otherwise you will have to do a form and sign and fax for the change. Chris Fitch Sr Network Administrator Industrial Chemicals Inc. -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Many registrars these days use the hostname only, and will pick up any IP changes you make, though I would recommend staggering the changes to avoid resolution problems that could come from a wholesale change. What registrar is it? Darin. - Original Message - From: Danny K [EMAIL

I see it is through domain direct (assuming you mean the ncws.com domain). Thay have online account management and can be done through their web site. Though as someone else said I might modify 1 at a time to help head off propagation delays. Chris Fitch Sr Network Administrator Industrial

It's starting to look like things are going downhill since Scott left. I don't remember ever having to wait this long for a issue to be resolved. I don't feel comfortable with v2.xx until these issues are addressed. I hope they get things togetherthis was always a very responsive company

Ahh...Network Solutions is (or at least used to be) one that cached the IP address. So, you will need to go into Account Manager and update the IP addresses for the nameservers. I definitely recommend changing one, waiting 24-48 hours for the changes to be recognized, then changing the other(s).
