[Bug 1755582] [NEW] Distorted Screen for ~2 secs after logging into gnome shell
Public bug reported: After I upgraded from Ubuntu 17.10 to Ubuntu 18.04 via sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get dist-upgrade sudo update-manager -d my screen fades into some distortion for 1-2 secs after login then fades away to the normal gnome shell and everything runs smooth. [Bug 1755588] [NEW] ubuntu wayland crashes when I attach secondary monitor
Public bug reported: I have a notebook with dual graphic cards: Intel+Nvidia (handled by nouveau). The miniDP port is apparently connected to nvidia since it stops working when I use nouveau.modeset=0. I am able to start a Wayland session when there's no secondary monitor connected; as soon as I connect it to miniDP the wayland session crashes and falls back to the greeter. The greeter won't even start Wayland session - it immediately crashes back to the greeter. Workaround is to use the Xorg-based session which works properly with secondary monitor. [Bug 1754425] WifiSyslog.txt
apport information ** Attachment added: "WifiSyslog.txt" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1754425/+attachment/5077763/+files/WifiSyslog.txt ** Description changed: If I open the lid, it seems that the computer flat-out doesn't wake up. HOWEVER, if I wait patiently more than 20 seconds, and press (not hold) the power button, SOMETIMES, the computer will "snap out of it" and come back to my desktop. Although RAM is 25% used, and CPU usage is around 25-50% or less (depending on apps), mouse will regularly freeze up for some seconds every 10 seconds or so. Wifi will claim to be "on", but there aren't any networks in the "select network" dialogue. Turning wifi off and then on does not fix this problem. So I'll be in this terrifying state of non-responsive every few seconds computer, with no ability to reconnect to networks and report bug. I force restart. The first restart, upon login, will hang indefinitely on a purple screen with the cursor in the middle. I will have to force restart again. Upon 2nd restart, it will boot "normally". [Bug 1754425] Re: Lots of pcieport and nvme kernel errors - system non-responsive
apport information ** Tags added: apport-collected ** Description changed: If I open the lid, it seems that the computer flat-out doesn't wake up. [Bug 1755106] [NEW] /org/gnome/settings-daemon/plugins/media-keys/custom-keybindings/ fails to load
You have been subscribed to a public bug: $ dconf dump /org/gnome/settings-daemon/plugins/media-keys/custom-keybindings/ [custom1] binding='BackSpace' command='gnome-session-quit --power-off' name='gnome-session-quit --power-off' [custom0] binding='g' command='gnome-terminal --geometry=80x99-0+0' name='gnome-terminal --geometry=80x99-0+0' $ In spite of the above, time to time, not always, but since 18.04 much much more frequently this settings fails to become active just after booting, ... my account is logged in automatically just after boot. If I log out and log in again, then these key bindings work. If I go to the system settings, and define again, then these work again. Earlier, before 18.04 this phenomenon was rare, namely once a week at most. But since 18.04 it is almost guaranteed, not deterministic, but highly probable, that after an initial boot or a warm reboot these key bindings will not work. ** Affects: gnome-settings-daemon (Ubuntu) Importance: Low Status: Incomplete -- /org/gnome/settings-daemon/plugins/media-keys/custom-keybindings/ fails to load https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1755106 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-settings-daemon in Ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1755501] [NEW] GfxBench renders fullscreen content at wrong size in Gnome desktop (on X)
Public bug reported: Setup: * FullHD monitor (1920x1080 resolution) * Ubuntu 18.04 (pre-release) with Gnome/mutter 3.27.92, on top of X * GfxBench benchmark suite from Kishonti: https://gfxbench.com/ (one of the most common 3D benchmarks supporting Linux) Example test-case: * bin/testfw_app --gfx glfw --gl_api desktop_core --width 1920 --height 1080 --fullscreen 1 --test_id gl_manhattan Expected outcome: * Benchmark renders always in full monitor resolution, like happens with all other desktops (Unity, XFCE, KDE) Actual outcome: * There's a black bar at the top of the screen and benchmark content is vertically scaled to smaller size than fullscreen Same thing happens also with Ubuntu 16.04 version of Mutter (v3.18.3), so it's not a (recent) regression. I assume that any other similar test-case which: * requests full resolution fullscreen window * uses window size that it gets * but doesn't support resizing the window afterwards Would have the same issue. >From xwininfo, xev and apitrace output I can see following: * Window is created in correct resolution * app sets some window properties * WM reparents it * WM maps window's parent to screen * WM resizes window's parent a smaller size -> I think this is the point when the application sets its GL viewport to wrong size * Some _NET_WM properties are set (by WM?) * WM resizes window's parent back to correct size, which is apparently too late for this application When comparing this to what Unity does: * Unity or app sets properties after reparenting * There's an extra intermediate window between the resized parent and the benchmark window * Resizing of the parent window to smaller size happens before that window is mapped on screen. I assume this means that the application doesn't get window resize event for the wrong window size * extra _NET_WM properties are set after parent is re-sized back to correct size -> this probably makes the time window with wrong window size shorter Upstream bug: https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/mutter/issues/60 I'm filing this here too because: * This was tested on latest Ubuntu 18.04 * Mutter upstream bug tracker doesn't support attachments ** Affects: mutter (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Attachment added: "GfxBench apitrace showing Mutter causing it to use wrong Viewport size" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1755501/+attachment/5078202/+files/gnome-gfxbench-start-apitrace.dump -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to mutter in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1755501 Title: GfxBench renders fullscreen content at wrong size in Gnome desktop (on X) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mutter/+bug/1755501/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
