[Bug 569250] Re: file-roller reports wrong file size .sql file
just upgraded to lucid and it is still the same ... but i notice it is just THIS archive! other archives with .sql files report the size just fine. and when unpacking this particular .sql file and repacking it results in a new archive that reports the size fine too. the archive that shows the fluke file size was made on another computer (my hosts webserver, done remotely using PHP) so i suppose it is not a file-roller problem and i should just be glad it contains a complete backup... i'll mark this report as invalid. ** Changed in: file-roller (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete = Invalid -- file-roller reports wrong file size .sql file https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/569250 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to file-roller in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 570565] [NEW] Rhythmbox should open a window when started conventionally
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: rhythmbox On 27/04/10 04:29, Benjamin Humphrey wrote: On the subject of Rhythmbox, currently when you start it, it will open to the last state - eg. in the notification area, or maximized, or just a window on some workspace. I don't think it should do this. When people open a program, they expect to see a reaction immediately. If it's opening as a 10x10 pixel icon in the corner of their screen, or in another workspace where they can't see it, then they will be confused and become frustrated. Also, what do you want to do when you open a music player? You want to play music, select your song or artist or album, or choose a podcast or browse the store. None of these can be achieved when the window is on another workspace, or with the limited functionality of the music menu in the notification area. Plus, I believe this action is inconsistent with most other programs. https://lists.launchpad.net/ayatana/msg01518.html Mark Shuttleworth wrote: Yes, I agree, Rhythmbox when launched conventionally should display a window. [Bug 570534] Re: Nautilus crashes when attempting to open /usr/bin
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is either missing or challenging to deal with as a '.crash' file. Please follow these instructions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can be dealt with by the automatic retracer. If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable apport in /etc/default/apport and restart. If you are using Ubuntu with the Gnome desktop environment - launch nautilus and navigate to your /var/crash directory and double click on the crash report you wish to submit. If you are using Kubuntu or Xubuntu you can file the crash using /usr/share/apport/apport-qt --crash-file=/var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash in a terminal - where _my_crash_report.crash is the crash you would like to report. I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more efficiently. This bug is *not* fixed in up-to-date lucid lynx. Files are now written to ~/.cache/.fr-* but this is still not $TEMP. Yes, I could also mount ~/.cache as tmpfs but doing so would be tedious to setup for every user. (A similar use-case to mine are nfs-mounted homes where $TEMP is likely to be local, while $HOMEDIR is not.) [Bug 570590] [NEW] empathy can be running without a visible UI
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: empathy The default behaviour for empathy with the indicator applet present on gnome-panel is to hide the UI when you click the close button but keep running. The UI can be brought back to life by selecting Chat under the indicator applet. If you remove the indicator applet from gnome-panel, empathy's behaviour will not change, but the main UI will disappear. It cannot be retrieved via the indicator applet, obviously, but remains running, so you are listed as present etc. on your IM networks. In this situation it is possible to get the UI to re-appear by launching a new empathy instance (which causes the original instance to display its UI) but this is not particulary intuitive. [Bug 570607] [NEW] Problem when sevral podcasts stream are suscribed in rhythmbox
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: rhythmbox I've suscribed 3 RSS podcasts in rhythmbox. The first day, it works correctly, and rhythmbox downloaded the episodes of the day. The day after, I asked rhythmbox to update the stream. It detects 3 new episodes, and starts downloading the firts one which works fine. Then I discovered the two other episodes had not been downloaded (I checked the files too) and the lines have disapeared from the podcast list. Impossible to find them again. Even worst, when I ask rhythmbox to download an old podcast which is still on the list, it seems to download something, but, the it plays the episode of the day before. At the end, all the lines from the list pointed to the same episode, even the one marked as today. I hope someone is gonna fixed this thing up before the final release. Re: [Bug 569964] Re: Unconfigurable Facebook buddies
Yessir, that's exactly what I mean. Drag-and-drop for Facebook contacts won't work on empathy. I confirm that they do for Gtalk (as well as MSN). I was also talking about a workaround for this situation: whenever I want to change a facebook contact's group on empathy I access www.facebook.com from the browser and do the drag-and-drop procedure on the website's built-in chat window. Then I need to restart empathy to see the change. So maybe renaming contacts really isn't a feature of facebook's XMPP, but changing contact groups definitely seems to be. [Bug 525368] Re: problem when adding new panels to gnome desktop
The same happens to me with Lucid updated to now. Maybe this helps debugging: - When using two monitors, if you add a new panel to the right border of the screen that is on the left side, the panel is rendered on the left edge of the screen that is on the right side. - In a single monitor setup, if you add a new panel to the bottom of the screen (in addition to the default one), the existing panel is moved up and a space for the new panel is allocated between it and the bottom of the screen. Very probably the new panel is then rendered below this space, out of the visible screen area. So the invisibility reported is in fact the panel being rendered out of the screen. Restarting X makes the panels visible in their correct positions. -- problem when adding new panels to gnome desktop https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/525368 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-panel in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 513346] Re: MSN connection does not work: Network error
OS: Ubuntu 9.10 x64. There is the same issue with Empathy and MSN in Ubuntu 9.10. This is a major issue, since MSN is one of the largest (I think the largest) IM network, and Empathy is the default client. I think this can be a bad first impression for new Ubuntu users. Needs to be fixed now, or the default IM client should be changed to another client, like Pidgin. I see this may be a problem with the Ubuntu One Music Store plugin: $ apt-cache policy rhythmbox-ubuntuone-music-store rhythmbox-ubuntuone-music-store: Installed: 0.0.9-0ubuntu1 Candidate: 0.0.9-0ubuntu1 Version table: *** 0.0.9-0ubuntu1 0 500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ lucid/main Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status I'll try removing it and re-adding wins to nsswitch.conf to confirm if the plugin is the cause of the segfault. -- rhythmbox crashed with SIGSEGV in _nss_wins_gethostbyname_r() https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/570648 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to rhythmbox in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 486142] Re: valid email being routed to Junk folder
Since last week, most of my emails are going straight into the 'junk' folder without me wanting it or knowing it. Also, I cannot 'move' or 'copy' them from the 'junk' folder into the 'in box' or any other folder. I just get another one of the same email ( duplicate) back into the 'junk' folder. I do not know how to reproduce this as it happens with emails coming in from outside. I hope you can help. [Bug 570648] Re: rhythmbox crashed with SIGSEGV in _nss_wins_gethostbyname_r()
Adding wins to nsswitch.conf and removing package rhythmbox-ubuntuone- music-store had the following effect: Rhythmbox would now launch properly and the interface appeared to be working; however, clicking on the Last.fm category on the left immediately crashes rhythmbox. Additionally, hovering the mouse cursor over that Last.fm category appears to crash rhythmbox. I'm attaching a debug file created with: rhythmbox --debug | rhythmbox-crash-debug-0.txt ...and a second file containing the console output. It shows a problem with the audioscrobbler feature of Last.fm. Neither this Last.fm problem, nor the Ubuntu One Music Store problem, occurs when wins is removed from nsswitch.conf. -- rhythmbox crashed with SIGSEGV in _nss_wins_gethostbyname_r() https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/570648 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to rhythmbox in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

Nope, it's all still to do with Ubuntu One Music Store. To summarize my findings so far: Case 1: rhythmbox-ubuntuone-music-store package INSTALLED wins entry REMOVED in nsswitch.conf Result: Works fine. Case 2: rhythmbox-ubuntuone-music-store package INSTALLED wins entry PRESENT in nsswitch.conf Result: Launch immediately segfaults. [Bug 518701] Re: Read receipt is not sent
I have the opposite experience (new bug or related?): Case 1: receipt asked. Click no -- receipt sent. Case 1: receipt asked. Click yes -- receipt sent (with slightly different subject). Case 3: In Preferences - Mail Accounts - [account] - Defaults I set Never for Send message receipts option. Send a mail including a request -- receipt is sent. Steps to reproduce: 1. Set send message receipts to Never or Ask. (didn't test the 3rd case) 2. Send yourself a mail including a message receipt (insert - request read receipt) 3. Read the mail, wait a bit, and find you have read receipt. -- Read receipt is not sent https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/518701 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to evolution in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 539734] Re: Sleep button on Thinkpad T61 does not work with Lucid
I was little playing with acpi_listen program, which shows received key events. I found out, that Fn+F4 event is received only one time per 60 second = quiet strange. Also it seems, that no action script was invoked, even when acpi_listen showed event.
