[Bug 1280300] Re: Desktop contents displayed on resume, before lock screen is shown
gethin, that seems plausibly like it could suffer from the same problems as #49579 -- if you have a menu open or a virtualbox window to a guest or similar, the screensaver 'lock' command may not be able to lock the display. That's why we recommend using the lock interface in the menus or keyboard shortcuts, because both will either succeed easily or visibly fail before you make the next step manually. [Bug 1644498] Re: apt-get update returns "AppStream cache update completed, but some metadata was ignored due to errors." periodically
Hello Thomas, or anyone else affected, Accepted appstream into xenial-proposed. The package will build now and be available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/appstream/0.9.4-1ubuntu2 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository. Please help us by testing this new package. See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update out to other Ubuntu users. If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug, mentioning the version of the package you tested, and change the tag from verification-needed to verification-done. If it does not fix the bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to verification-failed. In either case, details of your testing will help us make a better decision. Further information regarding the verification process can be found at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . [Bug 1645927] Re: totem video player will not start, I have tried re-installing but no luck
Note that your Dependencies.txt reports at least one file looks different than expected: libgbm1 10.1.3-0ubuntu0.6 [modified: usr/lib/i386-linux- gnu/libgbm.so.1.0.0] sudo apt-get install --reinstall libgbm1 would probably be a good idea. Hello and thanks for the bug report. Totem started up just fine for me in an up-to-date, pristine 14.04 i386 VM so more information will be needed. Adding systemd task, as cupsd itself shuts down correctly independent of the presence or absence of the keepalive file. There must be some problem in systemd's shutdown process. [Bug 1280300] Re: Desktop contents displayed on resume, before lock screen is shown
Another workaround that I used for Cinnamon. I can't imagine it would be too much trouble to adapt it to other window managers: 1. Use dconf-editor to change the button-suspend action at org>cinnamon >settings-daemon>plugins>power to 'nothing' (you could also amend lid- close-ac-action and lid-close-battery-action as well if you're using a laptop). 2. Save the following script to a convenient location (it locks the screen, then suspends): #!/bin/bash cinnamon-screensaver-command -l systemctl suspend 3. Use the System Settings app (cinnamon-settings) to create a custom keybinding for the sleep key that points to the script. After this it behaves as it should. You can see the lock screen pop up briefly before it goes to sleep, which is reassuring. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-screensaver in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1280300 Title: Desktop contents displayed on resume, before lock screen is shown To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-screensaver/+bug/1280300/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1280300 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1280300 This is a really bad issue, and frankly makes Linux security look like a bit of a joke. [Bug 1646388] [NEW] Cannot turn on location: it switches back to off by itself
Public bug reported: Location was not working on my newly acquired Meizu pro 5. I went to system-settings -> Security & Privacy -> Location and switched on the GPS. But then, when navigating back to the Security & Privacy page, the location was shown as off (and indeed, there was no location icon in the indicator). I've repeated it several times, also exiting from the system-settings to make sure it was not a problem in the client, but that didn't help: the settings was always being reset to "off". I also run "dbus-monitor --session" on the terminal and I could see that there was some activity around the location (see the attachment). I eventually stopped the ubuntu-location-service service and restarted it, and things started working. ** Affects: canonical-devices-system-image Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: location-service (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Attachment added: "Output of dbus-monitor" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1646388/+attachment/4785634/+files/dbus-system-session.log ** Also affects: canonical-devices-system-image Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to location-service in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1646388 Title: Cannot turn on location: it switches back to off by itself To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/canonical-devices-system-image/+bug/1646388/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 1290310] Re: nautilus does not start
I got this after some memory-intensive computation (when with a lot of cache operations, the system had been considerably slower for a while). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1290310 Title: nautilus does not start To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/1290310/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
