It seems dbus realted issue, on unity it simply couldn't get the bus.
But dbus-launch works for me. Ask the maintainer (~till-kamppeter )to
upload new version of hplip.

My built-in internal mic on my Toshiba Satellite-A215 will not pick up

Should it work on ubuntu 18.10? I try to install 390 driver. After this i run
