I had already reported this for transparent background in gedit and in
some windows on other programs (gramps), but I noticed that Calculator
is also showing the transparent background and that led me to this bug.

I have just been hit with this on a new install of 18.04 from a CD I had
to do because of a hard drive change and full restore. Initially text
editor worked well, but one of the applications I added, or a software
update, seems to have caused the transparency. The workaround suggested
by Heiko L
pm-utils should not be used any more. Although it may be installed on
systems that upgraded for older Ubuntu releases.

Since Ubuntu 19.04, I can not use Ubuntu on my VMware virtual machines on my
MacBook Pro Retina (200% scaling). The desktop is white. This still occurs

I have confirmed that it will not crash if I have a single monitor.
In duel monitor mode, i can also reconfirm that after updating
(strangely) Chrome browser that the window manager will crash, but will
restart -- prior to the update it would crash and not restart.

Additional thought on my scenario ... I was also working in a duel
monitor mode when gnome crashed. In my case Thunderbird was on my
primary monitor, and the thunderbird dialog came up on my secondary
monitor. Interacting with this dialog is when gnome crashes.

With help from willcooke, it seems that the dock pushes the calendar to
be centered on the space between the dock right edge and the right edge
of the screen, when dock has "auto-hide" setting turned off.
With auto-hide on, calendar widget is correctly centered.

I can't log in with my user and password

First I had the message "No running instance of xfce-4 panel was
found", then I rebooted my computer and the menu bar had disappeared, I
rebooted again but now I try to loggin and password and the computer
returns me to the menu of input user and password as if I had typed
This is still an issue!
It is also more important than "low".
We need to have a way to secure desktops when users forget to log out
when stepping away.
