I've found a workaround for this REALLY odd ubuntu issue.
Assuming you all have ELAN touchscreen devices, like mine, it represents
an usb device.
It seems that the ubuntu driver that controls the touchscreen has a bug,
altough it could work natively as another xinput device.

What an odd response. I'm not reporting a new problem I'm offering a solution.
Surely it would be more useful if the original reporter tried blacklisting the

In previous version of Ubuntu, Simple Scan worked great with my HP
ScanJet 6200C, but now, each time I launch Simple-Scan it crashes before

pulseaudio uses varying amounts of cpu (8 - 25%) even when there is no sound
being played at all.
This happens every time I turn mu notebook on, but simply killing it solves
the issue. That means it will respawn using much more reasonable cpu (0.1%).

In multiple videos of different filetypes, if I go into fullscreen mode,
wiggle the mouse to get the control bar at the bottom, including the

I didn't take notes, so I can't give the exact error messages. My
working video-driver (nvidia-304-updates) was uninstalled during the
installation of the last HWE-Stack. Afterwards, with the new Kernel
(3.13) I had only 1024-resolution. Nouveau driver was installed, but
I have installed ubuntu 14.04 and this is still an issue for me. I would
be happy if I could just get sound out of headphones and not the
speakers. I can manually switch it if need be. If there is a way for me
to manually apply the proper firmware please let me know. Thanks
