Same problem with raspbian stretch and avahi.
I used dhcp binding of my router to fix the address 192.168.2.4 to Mac
address b8:27:eb:3f:11:5f.
Few hours later, after the syslog gives the "Withdrawing address record

DESKTOP_SESSION correctly, it's that SDDM uses an absolute path for this
instead of just the base name like every other window manager.

no lockup today. probably because i used far fewer firefox tabs. i
suspect xorg gets into trouble under the strain of thrashing. i suspect
this is a new issue because the new version of firefox recently
introduced into xenial has a significantly larger memory footprint.

I have ran the tool a few times because it seemed to be crashing - at
first it wouldn't run at all complaining about missing PyQT, so I
installed python-qt-binding; then it seemed to be crashing due to
missing pathlib, so I installed that as well and ran it again.
