I hit (probably) the same bug --- made connecting to my PC via VNC practically
impossible.

Some Pdfs displays correctly in evince but preview or printing don't display
some polices and most pages are blank.

In Ubuntu 12.04, I don't quite get the crash, but the text-editor is
buggy. You choose a font, it keeps sans and you have to assign the font
again. After copying a text layer (pretty fundamental to any text effect
operation), it moves the topmost layer on editing.
Really frustrating.

Indeed, if it was working under 12.10 but not under raring with the
12.10 kernel, then it's most likely not a kernel change but instead an
upower regression. To confirm this, can you please install the older
upower for your architecture:
I get this behavior when I use a bridge or an ordinary wired ethernet
(eth0) for network connection iff this interface is not managed by
NetworkManager but defined in /etc/network/interfaces.

Applying the mentionned patch solves the pointer jerkiness issue when
applying the Coordinates Transformation Matrix to my Atmel maXTouch
touchscreen.
I attach the corrected patch which can be added to the current Quantal
'xserver-xorg-core' (1.13.0-0ubuntu6.1)
The workaround in comment #58 does eliminate the GPU lockups. Which I
notice when I boot in the morning and forget to do that workaround and
get a lockup part way through the day.

So the veriton is a gen3 machine (atom D425) while the other one
mentioned on irc (HP Pavilion Slimline s5-1224) is gen7 (ivybridge).
