Hi!
I am helping the organization of the JBCNConf [1], the biggest Java
conference in Spain, happening in person this July after two years doing it
virtually due to the pandemic.
Even though it's not a small event (last in-person event was 3 days and had
+700 attendees), it is a 100% non-profit

I think we are not going to be there this year.
The event has a clear focus on business and open source is becoming kind of
a marketing vehicle for them. As I said before if this event becomes a
truly relevant one, I think
Hi!
I have contradictory feelings about this event. On the one hand, the main
focus of the event is purely business. The main activities are around
business development and a big part of the focus is on company booths,
showing their "open source" projects. From our involvement last year, it

I've been talking to Jonathan too. As a not-for-profit event, they really
wanted to have some open source community presence there, and they came up
with this new proposal to see if that would make sense for Apache.

Hi!
We have been invited to participate again in the OpenExpo Ebook. We had a
bunch of people who participated in last year's edition and it would be
great if we could make it again this year.
If anyone is interested in participating and write a bit about the use and
trends of open source,

It would also be awesome if someone comes to the Madrid event too. I'm
staffing the booth there but I'm also giving a talk, so it would be
great if someone could take care of it for the duration of my talk :)

Hi!
I also think it is a great initiative, and JBCNConf is a great conference.
Collocating TomcatCon or the EU roadshow could be great idea.
I'm based in Barcelona and would be more than happy to help make this
happen, so count on me!

Thanks for sharing the initiative, PJ!
I can help to staff the booth at the Madrid event, so count on me to
coordinate that if needed. I can do some talks about open source, the
Apache way, or cloud too.
Cheers,
I.

Hi!
This is a summary of our impressions these days at OpenExpo, so we can use
them as a starting point for a post on the ComDev blog.
I would say the general perception is that it was a great event, with many
people stopping by to talk to us and interested in knowing more about the
ASF.

Let me just mention something said up-thread, about the ASF being about
voluntary software... It is, but is even more about communities. One of the
most important core values of the ASF is "community over code". Communities
come first, and the ASF, as a foundation, just sets the principles on top
