Melissa took a picture, in gull formation, of some of the buttons which I'd like to upload somewhere along with this ordering information, but I need some guidance from the marketing folks on location. A short update on this item. 200 buttons were ordered and Melissa has received them and will be taking them on to OSCON. Here is the link to the WackyButtons "product" if anyone wants to reuse this 1" design -- http://www.wackybuttons.com/preview.php?display=show&dc1=3718704 There area some other options you can do with the "buttons" for the more graphically adventurous. :) (You would need to submit a new design though.) It looks like we could get some 1" circle pins very inexpensively if this is the case. You can see one of those pins at https://flic.kr/p/dsxSbi bottom right. So yes, they had just the orb. We also had pins with a different, tailor-cut, shape and the full logo. I would be happy to cover the cost of these and have them shipped to ASF headquarters in time for transport to OSCON. Production costs are not a problem, since the project can allocate budget as discussed several times here. They wouldn't "say" anything with just our current flat logo, but they would be good I think. Stickers are an option too, if you prefer... or we can make both! The only difficult thing is that we need someone to take care of taking specifications and adapting our logo to it. And also to actually supervise production and shipping. It would be great to have an OpenOffice rep there with Melissa and Shane. Basically, Apache will be having a table at the upcoming OSCON in Portland. Details on OSCON can be found at: http://www.oscon.com/oscon2014 When I discovered this a day or so ago via the Board report that was sent on June 18, I sent a message to d...@community.apache.org asking about what purpose the table served and if projects could/should contribute in some way. So, the Apache reps will be at the table the days the expo is open -- July 21-23. Initially, I was under the impression we had some "treats" to contribute but perhaps we don't currently. OK, so the next question. What was on these popular "pins" that have been used n the past? Just the gull logo or ??? It looks like we could get some 1" circle pins very inexpensively if this is the case. I would be happy to cover the cost of these and have them shipped to ASF headquarters in time for transport to OSCON. RE: Apache@ OSCON question
I am willing to make a day trip from Seattle to the OSCON Expo Hall. That is affordable for me and appealing if can meet ASF and especially AOO folks that I have not yet met in person. (I have started some work on change- tracking for which there might be discussion interest as well.) I don't follow the OpenOffice dev list these days. It helps if I am CC-ed in any discussion there that is aided by my being at OSCON. -- Dennis E. I'll explain better: physical objects are not available, meaning that either they haven't been printed yet or they are in Europe and it's unpractical to deliver them to OSCON in the US. This is why I focus on the "designs", since stuff would have to be reprinted anyway. We have designs available for: - A4 leaflets, in color (suitable b/w too) https://flic.kr/p/dSDcDC - A roll-up like this one, roughly 80x200cm: https://flic.kr/p/dSDcB5 So for these two items the main issue is whether someone is attending FOSDEM and can print them. Pins with the OpenOffice logo used to be a quite successful giveaway that we could look into redesigning (we don't have the original files, but they had the old logo) and reprinting. Again, I don't know whether it makes sense to print stuff in Europe and ship it to the US... But Kay feel free to bring this to the OpenOffice dev list and we can find some ideas there, provided that someone is actually going to attend OSCON or the Expo Hall!
