I also have a situation where I want to run slimserver on two machines.
My girlfriend has her own laptop with iTunes and playlists, etc. And
I have my own as well. We only have one squeezebox player in the
house.
It works for me in 6.3, but an annoying thing that has been around for
as long as I can remember is that when you maximize the text (in SBG,
don't know about the other boxen) the umlauts disappear! Ö turns into O
and Å into A (i hope these characters can be viewed by you in this
forum). Now
can't help but want an easier way to switch between slimservers.
When in the play menu press and hold LEFT on the remote. You can then
select the server from a list without going through the whole setup
procedure.

Before chumby appeared I thought the GP2x
(http://wiki.gp2x.org/wiki/GP2X) could make good remote
- available, not too dear (i.e. less than the price of an SB3), Linux,
open source, perl already ported, TV out.
The main drawbacks - appearance, Wifi needs an adaptor SD/USB, no
touchscreen.

That's what I had in mind, indeed. I've never seen the option to use

day. It was working great, however something weird happened.
I am now unable to play a song on the squeezebox. I can choose a song
from my server (or internet radio, or even squeeze network), press

the internet archive ([url]www.archive.org[/org]). Mostly bands you've
never heard of, but quite a few gems. The quality of the live
recordings varies a lot, but some are better than what a lot of bands
release on CD.

Thanks for the hint, I hadn't seen Olive. They come close, featurewise I
only miss support for Vorbis, Musepack and Replay Gain. I find them
overpriced, but it fits the audiophile market (the price premium for

If I synchronize the squeezebox with an instance of Squeezeslave on my
computer and start playing music, the time left meter on the
squeezebox will advance, but still there is no data displayed on the
VU meter.

Yuo might try a wired connection temporarily. The fact that you can
read RSS feeds means that you have some kind of connection, but it uses
next to no bandwidth - it might be that you have interference that is
only allowing small amounts of data through.

I just had exactly the same problem (it started after managing to crash
the Squeezebox by trying the Analog VU meter, see
http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=27135) and got it
working with a factory reset: unplug the Squeezebox, then plug it in
again while holding down + on the remote.
I tried a factory reset, but that did not solve the problem for me.
It just went back to normal for me.
The last action I performed before it started working again was unplug
the box, hook it to a stereo with a digital input and plug the box.
This seems to have fixed the problem as it is now
Between this, the Series 3 TiVo and whatever Apple has
planned for the 12th I'm all worked up into a tech frenzy.

sufficient improvement in the signal. In this moment is 62-68%, which
is a noticeable improvement on the 36-41% I had before.

Appart from a bug that seems to affect SoftSqueeze a lot more than
