I know there was some criticism of my use of AAC (*.m4a) file types
earlier. I only used this because they all originate from iTunes and I
couldn't find a sensible way to convert them while maintaining the file
structure. anyway, I think I have found a piece of software which will
do this for me

EAC.
The quality is ok but since the difference between files is not so

I don't have huge collection of music. It's about 13000 tracks, mostly
lossless, which comfortably fits on a 500GB external drive.

Since I acquired by Duet, I have been using the sync feature with my
SB3. I have set the two to sync, with Sync player's volume and Power
on/off separately set. If I try to power off the SB3 while the music is
playing the screen goes blank briefly and then it powers back on with
the music still
Known issue. Fixed in recent builds of 7.0.1
As a workaround, you can pause first and power off then.

I've been playing about with the general Squeezecenter display until
we get the ability within SC to resize windows (left right different
widths) in MS IE 7.0, I have come up with a set up that 'works for me'.
Sharing here in case of interest to others.
1. Open SC, but not in IE 'full screen
New Squeezebox Classics now bear a Logitech logo, no matter from where
you purchase. It is what it is. For the record, they sound the same :)

I have had this for a while. I use the sleep function nearly every day.
If the font is set to 'medium' and I press the sleep button, it shows
the options (sleep in 15min.. etc) in the small font. If I set the font
to large, the options come up in the large font.

Well I had a go at changing the convert.conf and saving it as
custom-convert.conf in the root directory and it all seems to work
beautifully now.
Did I need to change the convert.conf file or did downloading that
faad.exe file sort it?

I have set up Squeezecentre and had been using the squeezebox without
problems for a week or so.
I have tried a factory reset and I have also disabled my firewall to
see if it would connect but it still wouldn't so I am at a loss as to
what is wrong.

Could this be a power supply problem ? it may be rebooting because it's
powering up again ?
try to wiggle the conector on the SB3 and also check that the supply is
properly conected.

Yes, I do save the playlist that I've created. But people pass around
the controller, adding to the playlist what they want to hear, and then
one person clears it and starts playing their own music by accident- I
can reload the playlist from earlier, but the tracks people added are
gone.

squeezebox etc for everyday use. I am in no way a techie, but have been
using computers since we thought editing config.sys and autoexec.bat was

problems and now it's just like listening to my ripped music. I went
