I can't get SqueezePlay running on Windows 8, either. Removed firewall rules for jiive, let them recreate, manually created a rule for squeezeplay.exe. no success, although all ports for squeezeplay.exe are supposed to be non-blocked.

Look Ma, no echo. I've played with the RT kernel described above. SBS and squeezelite are running at normal prio (batch scheduling in RT parlance) and squeezelite is reniced -5, so it comes on top of SBS, but not enough to lock itself up. (Sox and flac are reniced +15 when they run, so they stay
