Yes, I tried it wired, both with the WiFi board seated and unseated.

I tested the following setup: ASRock Ion 330 with Lubuntu 14.04 LTS
running LMS 7.8.1 as music/video server (this one usually feeds my Boom,
Duet and Radio), Google Chromecast stick connected to a Samsung TV
(sound through a Samsung 2.1 soundbar) and controlled through the app
BubbleUPnP (paid
I've taken several approaches to this (though all my Squeezeboxes are
fine.
I have two Raspberry Pis - one connected to the amplifier via a
HiFiBerry DAC, the other is used as a headphone player through a USB
headphone amp. But probably the easiest solution was to use my old 1st
generation iPad
I've been a user of many SB devices (3 Boom, 4 radio, 4 receiver, 1
Touch, 1 SB3 ...) I really love these devices, but I have to confess, at
the risk of receiving tomatoes, that I've now added 2 Sonos:1, 1 Sonos:3
and 1 Sonos:5 and I was able to have them reasonably intregrated with
LMS system.
Robert, thinking of going down the raspberry pi, hifi berry dac route
as well. What is the output quality like.
I haven't been able to find any user feedback on this.
I am finding LMS 7.9 is the most solid it has ever been so don't want to
use any other system.
