Hi,
In my office (8-10 m2) I use squeezeplay and Logitech pc-speakers - but
the sound is horrible.
What is the best way to add a room to your server these days?
If I could buy another Boom, I would do that - I can't use UE-products,
right? What about DLNA?
Thanks for your advice!
Best,

You can convert a UE Smart Radio into a SB Radio. There's a menu option
to do this on the Radio.

Any spare iThingies or Android devices? With external speakers they make
for pretty good players and one tends to have a few old ones around
these days.
The old IPeng can still be installed on devices with iOS 4.1.2 and newer
and I believe SqueezePlayer on Android still supports some 2.x versions
I think this has probably been discussed elsewhere on this forum, but I
haven't been able to locate the answer.
Whereas Qobuz streams 16bit/44.1kHz 'CD-quality' FLAC, Tidal states that
it streams FLAC at 1411kbps.
So, does Tidal (I haven't tried it yet) stream at higher resolution,
e.g. stuff

I was able to get subscribed to Tidal and install the Ickstream plugin
within an hour or so. Minor hiccup when the Ickstream platform itself
seemed to go down for a while, and I had to futz with the FLAC playback

At a remote office I run Squeezeplay with a pair of ION Deskrocker USB
Active Speakers. Sound is fine.
ION don't manufacture them anymore but they are now made by Alesis.
+1 for old iThingy as well.

How about a Raspberry Pi running piCorePlayer with a 'HiFiBerry Amp'

This would be a standalone device...never tried the HiFiBerry amplifier,

I have noticed that when I view the my artists in Tidal that only the

I flushed the cache on ipeng, that did not help .

Better pc speakers is a good idea. I use something like the Adams

With an old laptop you have several possibilities to consider.
Keep XP or install some linux OS on it .
The players to use are SqueezePlay or Squeezelite .
Is the internal soundcard good enough or should some USB DAC be used ,
but this migth not be an issue unless you get really good speakers
Adjunkten wrote:
Garym, I stream FLAC, so it can't be a bitrate issue - but I might look

Yes, but even if you are streaming FLAC files, if you've accidentally
set your bitrate limit setting in the player audio settings and have
it set to something like LAME mp3
I have tried repeatedly to get this plugin installed correctly.
Only one player of many (a Boom) shows up in the list of registered
devices on the ickstream website.
I have tried installing it multiple times after deleting the ickstream

If you are going laptop then try to find one where you can remove the
battery but still run it off mains. Some have mains input into the
battery direct some into the laptop outside of the battery.
WOL is unlikely to work even on an Ethernet connection as above as
Laptops hardware spec doesn't

I tried both options: Power Toggle as well as discrete Power On and
Power Off. It makes no difference.
Of you want to play the computer in sync with other devices consider
using Linux, it won't really work with Windows.
