- You start with V7.8 get a new server.prefs from scratch from 7.8
- You update to a newer Version with more features - The settings for
"disable this or that" arent touched.

I have a test instance of LMS that is running most of the time without
any players attached most of the time. When I install a new LMS it goes
on that machine. I verify that the basic functions work and then it's
easy enough to pull a player from my production server. I also use this
server when
. . . And search is so much quicker! I always thought the problem was my
hardware.

I'd say it's as stable as 7.7 or 7.8. It's what my family uses every
day. And they don't complain.
The biggest known issue is a compatibility issue of the full text search
with some of Erland's plugins.

I see the Additional Browse Modes plugin and if I click the settings for
that plugin it takes me to the same dialog as the Advanced tab ->
Additional Browse Modes in the dropdown, but can't see how to manipulate
the inclusion or exclusion of menu items in the My Music section of the

Are you using direct stream or proxied stream?
Streaming local tracks always is direct from LMS. That setting is
totally unrelated.

The full text index would cover all of contributor names, comments,
album titles and much more. Wouldn't this cover your needs, too?

@Pipin i didnt have that issue - i am just guessing.
There are lot of "if then else" constructs like -direct stream / proxy
stream- and so on.
I can remember that poor tracks with false bitrate settings/tags are
caused these issues - cant remember any other that causes this.
A try costs max.
No need to do that, I think you can force the server to do FLAC-FLAC
transcoding, there's a thread on it somewhere.
I'm still not convinced that's it. I've had issues with FLAC encoding in
the past and it caused skipping and stuttering, nothing like the OP
observes.

Depending on the DSM version the rollback options may be limited. I
would suggest to try to find out what is causing this issue.
A good starting point would be to install squeezelite on a pc and see if
the same problem ocures.
