iTunes is a lot less tolerant of filename and path length than SqueezeCenter, I think. I've fallen foul of this - if I scan the .xml using iTunes integration in SC I get less tracks than if I scan the music folder directly. Reason being, as far as I can see, if a filename/path combo exceeds a

Well - my system miraculously healed itself while I was at work today. I think it was the scan that was truly slowing things down. Now that I've been able to spend some time adjusting a few settings, I can say that SC7 definitely seems faster and more robust than SS. Thanks... -- kblee

Well I don't know about playlists cause I never use them. But maybe this will help answer your question. I just installed v7 over 6.5 and the installer uninstalled 6.5 in the process before installing sc7. I would guess that your playlists will be safe because my \SlimServer\server\Playlists

Migrating on my Mac, SC picked up the music library and playlists folders from where they were in SS 6.5. Some things are differently organised (or need new versions of the plugins) between the two. I am not sure exactly what was transferred and what wasn't. -- danco
