was getting too confused with the responses, front-end, back-end, etc.
What do members recommend I purchase to be able to watch video (i.e. TV
shows or movies) from my local library using my TV? Thanks.

That's a frontend device so it's no equivalent to SBS, but have a look

Personally, I use MythTV, but it's quite a 'DIY' solution.
It's a centralised networked hub for recording TV. The equivalent of
SBS is the 'backend' which records TV, stores the listings and
recording information, does the heavy lifting of removing commercials
