Hope I have the right place for this discussion. I am running AlienBBC on
Win XP and got everythings working with MPlayer :) after some messing
around. I can stream to softsqueeze all the archived Radio 4 programs but
nothing playable comes under BBC live. I am using v0.94.

My collecstion contains a large number of compilation albums, I use Itunes and
they are defined as compilations in there so the artists do not appear on the
artist list.
I would like Slimserver to behave in this manner, does anyone know if this is
possible ?.

I'm not so sure. While a lot of the people doing the coding and such are
Linux advocates something like 80% of the downloads for Slim Server are for
Windows.
I would say most users on this list are aware of Linux and the
advantages/drawbacks to using it (I myself run my slimserver on FC2) so

Set the value of the DISC tag to the number of the disc, then set the 'show
multi-disc sets as single album' option in settings.

I have about 8500 tracks, all MP3 all 320kbps, all tagged and set up as
\artist\album\tracknumber - trackname.mp3
I want to find a utility which I can point at the root of this directory

I think that dbPowerAmp could do that. There is a converter type plugin
for it.
I used it to convert all my .ogg files to .mp3 when I realised how
limiting ogg files are.

Why did you clear the cache first? You should only need to rescan.
I tried a rescan first, then cleared the cache when that did not work.
Slimserver was not picking up a recent addition of a
miles davis box set long past the 600 seconds that was set in the
itunes rescan time.

Ok, I've upgraded to 6.0. Pre 6.0, I would sometimes come across inconsistencies in artist names, or album names (and vs , or In vs in) and I would fix it by editting the tag and rescanning. My question - now, with 6.0 being DB based, how do I go about fixing inconsistencies like this?

Whatever drives the way artist/album/song are listed within the web interface. I see one "Alice in Chains", and one "Alice In Chains" and I don't know what's driving the difference. If it's tags, I can fix it. Is it? If so, and I fix it, how do I make the fix reflect itself in the UI?

Ok, well, given that I fixed this sort of thing through fixing tags before, I'm guessing I'll fix via tags still. Thanks.
