Just out of interest since things have changed a bit here during the
last years, I'd like everyone to give me your thoughts about the
primary reason why you would recommend a Squeezebox to someone not
owning a Squeezebox today.
Basically, what is the main reasons the Squeezebox solution

+1 for using virtual machines instead of dual booting
I suggest 8-16GB of memory and a quad core chip, though there doesn't
seem to be much of a point to quad over dual cores for most tasks.
Perhaps the extra cores could be dedicated to running Ubuntu in a
VM...
This stuff is so much faster and
It would probably help your cause if you posted where you are.

The easiest way would be to use the web interface of the server. Just
point the web browser on your netbook to http://192.168.0.2:9000
(replace the IP-number with the appropriate for the machine running
Squeezebox Server in your network).
Another way would be to install a client on your netbook.
Welcome. What you want to do is easy. Just open a web browser on the
netbook and point it at http://server_ip:9000/, replacing server_ip
with the actual IP address of your computer that is running SBS.
Depending on your setup you may need to adjust some settings on the
server's firewall.

Matlock,
I disabled wifi bridging by disconnecting the ethernet cable to my SB3
