I have a Lenovo Thinkpad Tablet 2 (ARM processor) running Windows 8 with
SqueezePlay installed. I've tried it with two DACs, a Muse Mini USB DAC
and a Behringer UCA202 with no problems. Won't use it this way myself
but good to know there are no problems with this approach.
Not a fan of Windows 8

Over the last 24 hrs all the BBC national channels fail to play - the
station info appears on screen but there's no sound. Can others confirm
this?
On Tunein site the channels fail to play also, but a message appears
saying the channel is not available at the moment.

6music and R4 play OK for me but I'm outside UK and so Tunein plays
48kbps WMA format.

I think that's the problem - the streams are wma format (which have
never played on my setup!). I think previously they were AAC - but seem
to have changed format ...

Radio 4 was playing fine this morning through the iPlayer plugin (I
don't use Tunein). I'm in the UK.

The Tune-in URL used to have options about which formats to return.
Perhaps (because of adding metadata)

Perhaps (because of adding metadata) they are limtiing BBC to WMA and
perhaps the BBC geo-ip lock is messing things up (e.g. Tune-in is not in
UK and so it will get a non UK WMA URL which cannot be played from

Okay - thanks. So, you confirm that the issue is with Tunein no longer

I don't know if Tune-in ever offered AAC on BBC but if you try adding
formats=aac, wma to the Tune-in URL only WMA URls are returned
Is there a list of overseas wma stream urls anywhere?

Thanks for the info. I wanted to set up a couple of favourites for BBC
5 and BBC 4 - guess I could do that just as easily via iPlayer plugin.
I switched to mysb, com and when I play the tunein favourite there then
it plays wma okay. Think there must be a gremlin in my lms server setup
which is
The mesh network has the same bandwidth limitations as other WiFi
networks, it would be even worse than the OPs current setup because it
will only use a single channel. Have you ever tried to sync 18 devices
with Sonos?
If this is really a bandwidth problem over WiFi or on the server side,

I could be way off, but iTunes radio seems to be Apple-specific and not
likely to ever be ported off to non-iOS devices?

Are you using a proper VPN or one with a smart DNS to make it appear
as if
Okay - using te beebotron url for Radio 4:
Native dns - plays via VLC
True vpn - plays via VLC
smart dns - fails to play via VLC
With LMS - fails to play with all the above settings - I rebooted the
LMS server for each of the settings.

LMS has a two stage analysis or URLS/playlist and perhaps it is not
using your DNS (IIRC years ago openDNS was used) - perhap you should
check by enabling logging for network.asyncdns
A workaround may be to avoid playlist and minimise DNS lookups by using
the real BBC URLs
BBC has many WMA
You should check the TCP statistics (using netstat) for the server
ethernet interface and if you see a number of timeout or packet
retransmissions just after starting playing on synced players - then
you'll know it is a network overload problem.

Ah - but the streams work if I play on VLC using PC with vpn.
Is there a way to force LMS to use the openDNS address? My system is
set-up to use smart dns via the router.
