device behaves that way. If you change a
single bit of the dts bitsream it isn't valid anymore!

FM Stereo has always been limited in practice to 15kHz as you know

Technically, since the stereo sideband was at 17kHz, it was way lower
than that. Think 6 db/octave starting at 10kHz on a good day.
And nearly all radio station turntables

is good, but the OGG streams at lower bit rates match it.
Cool - Bartók Rádió ...Hungarian Dances all day every day?
I like Bela - he's very rock 'n roll for me...

Don't want to be controversial Brian, but that 192 stream is nowhere
near as good as my FM tuner! (Linn Pekin).

LK140's
, the actual sound of a live
concert can be entrancing at times on 3. To me that just reinforces the
view that there's more to enjoyment than dynamic range, SNR, freq
response etc.

be really neat would be a SC Scanner Compatability Mode in
something like MP3Tag - so what it did and what you saw on the screen
corresponded exactly with how things would appear when scanned into SC.

How many tracks do you have. My system is very similar to yours and
takes 40 mins for 30K tracks (of which 32 mins is the MusicIP import).
This is on 7.4 but 7.3.x was about 5 mins slower.
You don't have both a music folder AND musicIP import set do you?
--
Phil Leigh
You want to see
no music folder and
then use MusicIP as the source for all data (not just mix status). At
least that way you will only do 1 read of the files...

. There is (or used to be?) a setting buried somwhere
in SC to turn this on/off, but I believe it is on by default? - worth
checking anyway.
