They could as well just write their own to download all those files, yes. But then I'm not aware of an attack at that level. The password can be used by anyone knowing it. Most likely this is only being set to annoy the users, and potentially have a bit more time to explore whatever content they got access to. [slim] Spotify on Squeezebox / UE Smart Radio - end of life
We want to give you a heads up that Spotify support will be removed from your Logitech Squeezebox and UE Smart Radio on July 20, 2017. Spotify is discontinuing some device-specific integrations in order to make playing Spotify on your speaker and other devices better and easier, and regrettably Squeezebox and UE Smart Radio are impacted. See 'Spotify support page' (https://support.spotify.com/us/listen_everywhere/on_speaker/why-cant-i-use-the-spotify-app-on-my-speaker/) for details. As of July 20, 2017, you will not be able to connect to Spotify from your Squeezebox and UE Smart Radio. You can still enjoy your personal music library and other radio and music streaming services such as Pandora, Tidal, TuneIn and more. Please see the full list of supported apps and services 'here' (http://www.mysqueezebox.com/index/Home) for details. mherger's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=50 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=107648 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

You're mixing bits and Bytes: 2880Mb = (2880/8)MB = 360MB. Bitrate is defined in bits per second, while bandwidth usage usually is counted in bytes, not bits. My calculation was a bit misleading, as my guessed 100MB would have been for a single stream. 360MB/5P = 72MB/Player. wellsi wrote: > I'm using Logitech Media Servier on a windows PC which has my > 'mysqueezebox.com' account info entered. IMHO syncing 5 players using LMS should only pull the stream once from the cloud to LMS, and 5x from LMS to the players. See the footnote about "partial" syncing on mysb.com: "You can sync these, but the audio will most likely not be in perfect sync. The reason for this is because each player maintains its own connection to the streaming server, and may start at slightly different points in the stream." mysb.com can't sync perfectly well, because the players stream directly from the source. With LMS this limitation goes away as LMS is proxying the stream. Can you track down from what source that data came? Trust me when I say nothing is being proxied through mysb.com - the cost would kill us. Are you using LMS or connect to mysb.com directly? The single stream when synced would only work when using LMS (for aforementioned reasons). [slim] IMPORTANT: Stop forwarding your LMS ports to the internet!
I do understand that many like to be able to access their music while on the road, at work, away from home. But please do NOT configure your router to forward those ports to the internet. While this is easy to do, it's dangerous. LMS was not designed to be used this way. Any user out there (incl. me and your neighbor's kids you hate so much) could access your LMS and do all kinds of things. - blast crazy stupid music at full volume in the middle of the night. And then again five minutes after you turned it off. Repeat. - install the Gallery plugin and have it scann all your folder of all your disks, causing a crash sooner or later - install any plugin they want, including their own development, doing things we don't even know about On systems where LMS is running as root/admin the last one is particularly dangerous. We have evidence of these kinds of "attacks" almost on a daily basis now. See various threads in this forum. Now you might think "who would be interested in finding my IP address and port used?". Your neighbor's kid. Or some bored soul seeking some kick. Because it's easy. There are search engines who list your computer and port. No need to figure this one out yourself. And the have some fun. NOT! So please: review your router's settings. Block those ports. Install a VPN if you need access to your music. [slim] Spotify and Synchronization - testers needed

I think I've found a solution to this problem. While it's not perfect, it should work in most cases. Eg. you might need to restart playback once you've synchronized to players playing some Spotify content. But from then on it should just work. Before I roll out this change to mysb.com I'd love to hear some feedback from you guys out there. Please test Spotify in a synchronized player environment and let me know about your experience. Please update to tomorrow's 7.7.6, 7.8.1 or 7.9.0 build and give it a good test ride. Re: [slim] Which Services not supported on Transporter?
As you've got a Duet it's safe to say that you'll be able to stream anything on the Transporter which does stream on the Duet's Receiver. Spotify wouldn't work out of the box. But as you're running LMS anyway, you might overcome this limitation by installing a 3rd party Spotify plugin. Re: [slim] mysqueezebox.com not accepting new accounts??
Ok, thanks guys. I'm seeing what's wrong: our DB host in the US unexpectedly went down last weekend. While it returned quickly, replication on some slaves didn't recover. The data is in the main DB, but the code returning that information to your LMS is requesting it from one of the slaves - which isn't up to date. We're in the process of restoring those slaves. Please be patient and try again in a bit. Re: [slim] Rhapsody crashing Squeezeplay devices?
We're getting closer to an official release of the updated firmware to fix the rebooting caused by Napster/Rhapsody tracks. If you feel like giving it a try already, please follow these instructions: Grab the firmware from this folder: http://update.slimdevices.com/update/firmware/7.x-rhapsody/ There should be three images: fab4 is Touch, baby is Radio. Pick 7.8 if you're running LMS 7.8. Otherwise stick with the 7.7.x builds. To update SB Touch just download the firmware image, store it on a USB stick or SD card, and plug it in to the Touch. After a few moments you'll be offered a menu from which you can install the firmware. The procedure for the Radio is a bit more involved and riskier, as there's no USB/SD card slot on the device. I wouldn't recommend doing it unless you're really sure you know what you're doing. Instructions can be found in the wiki. I won't give them to you... PLEASE NOTE: this is not an official release yet. Use it at your own risk. Good luck! And please let me know about your experience. Thanks for your help! Re: [slim] mog to beats
There are a few discussions about this topic already. Right now they don't seem to have an API available yet. Here's a mail I just received from Beats/MOG: -- Hey MOG Listeners, We owe you an update. We wanted to give you more details and clarification about what you can expect over the next few months. If youd like to try Beats Music, please sign up for a free trial and check it out. You dont have to wait until we send you the free month code you can add that credit to an existing Beats Music account in March. We wanted to allow as many of you as possible to take advantage of the ATT offer first. Were also building a playlist transfer tool so you can bring your playlists over from MOG to Beats Music. Favorites will not transfer because Beats Musics feature My Library works a bit differently. We wanted to take a moment to highlight how Beats Music has incorporated some of the best features of MOG. The 320kbps high quality audio streams across platforms, competitive 20+ million track catalog available to search-and-play on-demand, and killer personalized recommendations are still essential to the new music experience weve built. New releases are also available on Beats Music, but now we divide them up so you can browse by genre we got this feedback from you back in the MOG days, so we hope you like this change. You can browse them by genre from the Find It section. The Sentence is a powerful way to create a practically never-ending radio station based on your chosen mood and the genre youd like to hear. We think its a big improvement on artist radio. Also, artist radio fans please check out the Intro to and Deep Cuts playlists for artists instead. Weve found them to be just like human-curated artist stations. More to come! Lastly we really want to highlight our expert curation. Please check out our playlists. Theyre really, really good. Find It and Just For You are two great places to start. Like we said before, MOG will shut down on 4/15/14. Thank you for being a part of it, and thank you for reaching out to us with your feedback over the last few weeks. Seriously. We are humbled by how much you care and we hope this makes the transition easier. Re: [slim] Pre-Announcement: ickStream
erland wrote: Now, people who have sniffed the network or looked in the server log files from LMS with network debugging enabled knows how much traffic there is continuously between the player and server when using the system. What Logitech did with mysqueezebox.com is essentially to move the server part to the cloud which means that all this network traffic have to be handled by a central server with the result that you are extremely dependent that the central server must be available for scenario 2, so you aren't just dependent on an internet connection you are also extremely dependent on the cloud server itself. This is what you get with a slim device when you move the server part to the cloud, basically a system which is extremely dependent on a cloud server being up. Now that's a little confusing if not wrong here. Please define the server part. As long as you're using (and that's what you're talking about wrt. to looking at logs), the server part is not moved to mysb.com. What is there is content aggregation for music services. LMS is reaching out to mysb.com to eg. get the data to build the menus for your favorite music service. But all the player control still happens in LMS. It receives that OPML data and creates SlimBrowse menu for your devices. Yes, you are dependant on mysb.com to use most of the music services. But not because you lose control over your device, but because you lose access to the music service's API. erland wrote: As long as you can keep the cloud server up, it's not a problem, but let's just say that it's a lot easier to operate a cloud server which responds to 2 messages per minute from each device compared to one that have to respond to 200 messages per minute from each device. I'm not sure about the exact numbers here but generally a solution with slim devices requires a lot more network traffic than a solution with thick/rich devices. I don't know where you got those numbers or even that impression. LMS will talk to mysb.com to get information (title, album, artwork) about the next track to be played and (depending on the music service) report successful playback after some time. But while listening (not navigating), there's not much more relevant traffic than this. There is some other information exchange which is mostly irrelevant to the player's operation, like prefs synchroniation (optional). But you won't miss it when mysb.com was to go away. erland wrote: I'm not going to go into any details how we have solved it but let's just say that we have learned a bit from Logitech's mistakes and we don't plan to repeat them, What? You think using perl was a mistake? :-P It'll be interesting to see what you're going to win over mysb.com for the SB user. Unless you modify the player's firmware to move more of the player control to the device instead of the server there's not much room for improvement imho. It's a limitation of this device which we should have fixed long ago. mherger's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=50 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=98467 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
