Roger,
Deleting the config.dat file may solve the problem already unless you
suspect that a virus modified the exe file.
Group names are stored in the log file.

I have a crash on my Dx4win version 9 . If I do a reinstall, I would like to
save my group names from past contest. Wonder where they are stored?

Subject: [Dx4win] Group Names??
Are the Group numbers and names kept somewhere in a file that can be
accessed?
I have over 200 now and I know I have a few of my portable Ops that
are the same call and location but different dates. If I could see a
master list I could manage the Groups easier
Hi Jay,
You may do a filter with just group names and group numbers . Export it and
open the file in Excel. Sort them and remove duplicates. Then you will have
a list of all your group names and numbers.

To get the groups listing I simply click on the group number in the log
window and then press F1.

Hi all,
I wrote a program years ago that decoded the group numbers/names and
the filter information too from the .DXL file.
At one time I had thoughts of "extracting" the group and filter information
from one .DXL file and creating a new .DXL with the same information. Some

It resides in the log (.DXL) file. It would be difficult at best to
get the info from that file. And once you had it, you

I did this once before but fail to remember how I did it.
I want to put a note on each of my CQWW contest QSOs that I imported into
DX4WIN. Last year I put “CQWWCW” in the notes field for each of these QSOs. I
don’t remember how to do that.
Also, I want to set the Print Label Flag to “N”

The easiest way to add notes to your file is to use AD1C program
adif2dxq. You can also make by default labels to N with it. I use it in
every contest i run. Tnx agn Jim...

This morning I went to add my NEQP results and wanted to specify a new Group
Number and Name. To my surprise, all 70 Group Names were gone. Group numbers
are still associated with my QSO's but no Group names. They do exist in an
earlier backed up version of the database so if I must, I can
export your current log to dx4win8 format.
find a .dxl file that has the group names.
copy that file to a new name and open that new file.
using mult qso ops, delete all qsos.
import your .dxq file in dx4win8 format.

It would be really helpful if you could sumerize the responses, both
private and public, and post them back to the list. The kind of
information might be useful again. ;)
Thanks.
