[Dx4win] Log File Transfer
I'm downloading 6.03 to a new computer. How do I transfer the log from the old computer (6.02) to the new one: 1. Copy the log file from the old computer onto CD and copy it into the save directory of 6.03 on the new computer? 2. Export the old log file to CD and import to 6.03 on the new computer? 3. Export the old log file to CD and merge to 6.03 on the new computer? 4. Copy the old log file to CD and merge to 6.03 on the new computer? 5. Copy the old log file and import to 6.03 on the new computer? 6. Export the old log file to CD and copy it to the save directory on the new computer? Same question for the cty file. 73, Bud W3LL [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Copying anything to CD's is not without problems. The files become read only files when you look at the properties, and you have to change them back to read/write files. Most logs and the save directory can be zipped and will fit on a 1.44 floppy. That is easy to move to the new computer and unzip in a backup directory. That said: I would run the old DX4WIN on the old computer and write the DX4WIN ini file to the save directory which is probably DX4W602/save. This saves most of your preferences. I would write the entire save directory to a cd, then write it back to a backup of the save directory on the new computer. Change all file properties in this new directory back from read only to read write. You original log will be in this directory as should be your call.key keycode for DX4WIN. Install the new program. Import the dx4win.ini file through preferences, copy your key file to the new save directory and copy your log to the new save directory. You should be good to go. The new country file is good enough that I would not import my old country file unless you want to import the qsl managers. -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Behalf Of Bud Governale Sent: Wednesday, May 19, 2004 4:23 PM To: Dx4win@mailman.qth.net Subject: [Dx4win] Log File Transfer I'm downloading 6.03 to a new computer. The country file also went through a significant QSL manager update, original 7K QSL manager file was cleaned up and added to, now 24K QSL managers. So you probably don't need to import this part either. 73 - Jim AD1C = Jim Reisert AD1C, 7 Charlemont Court, North Chelmsford, MA 01863 USA +978-251-9933, [EMAIL PROTECTED], http://www.ad1c.com PGP Fingerprint: D8E2 3D78 339F A7F1 8C13 1193 B5D1 4FB6 79D1 70DC From [EMAIL PROTECTED] Wed May 19 18:54:41 2004 From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] (Joe) Date: Wed May 19 18:57:16 2004 Subject: [Dx4win] Stop the ad on QSLs Message-ID: [EMAIL PROTECTED] I know it's there, but I can't find out how to cancel the Verified and printed by DX4WIN ad when printing QSL labels. Over the years I've replaced the canned QSL managers with ones I had sucess with. I had thought that _all_ qsl managers were stored in dx4win.cty and nothing in the log file. If I use your dx4win.cty with the new managers, will I lose my customization? How can I choose which qsl manager (mine or yours) to use? 73, Larry N2LA Larry Alkoff N2LA - Austin TX

See next question. How can I choose which qsl manager (mine or yours) to use? When you import QSL manager data, you can choose to wipe out all the existing data, or just add to it. However, if you just add to it, bad entries in your old file (that I've since fixed) will reappear. If you send me your DX4WIN.CTY file, I can merge your QSL manager data into the master database, hopefully without restoring any of the errors. 73 - Jim AD1C = Jim Reisert AD1C, 7 Charlemont Court, North Chelmsford, MA 01863 USA +978-251-9933, [EMAIL PROTECTED], http://www.ad1c.com PGP Fingerprint: D8E2 3D78 339F A7F1 8C13 1193 B5D1 4FB6 79D1 70DC From [EMAIL PROTECTED] Wed May 19 21:38:48 2004 From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] (Cal Kutemeier) Date: Wed May 19 21:36:35 2004 Subject: [Dx4win] 6.03 and Custom Award - TenTen Message-ID: [EMAIL PROTECTED] After upgrading, when I do a search via f8 for the custom award for the TenTen award I get a listing of 10 meter QSOs in my Logbook screen. When I select the menu items Reports and then Ten Ten under Custom, I get no results. The Award field for these QSOs says TenTen in the Logbook. Both the Awdstrng and Awdvalue fields display the TenTen number. Does anyone have any hints on how I can get the Reports Custom TenTen to display the TenTen numbers? Cal N9KO
