Err, did you mean 3 amp instead of 3 watt? 1 amp at 12v = 12 watts,
of course. I have found the MFJ-4103 (2.89 A) to be a suitable
supply for my K2 (except that the output isn't quite high enough to
maintain battery charge with the KBT2 installed) and it should be a
good choice for the K1
Al,
Check the Specifications section of the manual. You should find that
the current draw at 5 watts is less than 1 Amp. If your K1 has options,
that current draw may increase a bit, but in any case, a 3 watt power
source should be more than adequate - actually a 1 amp supply may
suffice, b
Dick,
I would suggest that the most straightforward answer is to order the
KPA100UPKT and build from the latest manual on the Elecraft website. Be
certain you have the latest shield kit (the one with the two soldering
lugs on the corner near the SO-239).

Good Evening,
Very good nets tonight. When I left my rig Dale was threatening to
check in with a pasta antenna. He and Rick were working each other and
lowering their power as they went. Sometimes the band is amazing. I
could not hear K6PJV on 20 meters but on 40 he was very strong.
Just finished up the final alignments tonight. What it difference it
makes once you are all done and nudge the filters with the software.
Dug out a manual tuner and got the rig on the air for a bit. Did lots

Blue Locktite is not permanent, that should do the trick.

I'm preparing to build a KPA100 from an old kit. My board is marked Rev
B, and my manual is Rev C (with Dec 14, 2004 errata sheet). My manual
seems to include all mods from the KPA100 Shield Upgrade and the

Try liquid soap; it can set fairly hard but not too hard to undo. As a matter
of fact there are several grades of Loctite but it would be a waste for just
one application. Hellerine oil also works, but, again a waste to buy a bottle.

I am curious abt a power supply for the K1. The instruction book calls for a
12-14V unit. How careful do I need to be abt the amperage?

Take a look at http://radio.linux.org.au/
Hello Douglas. Take a look at page 89 of the April 2007 issue of QST. You
can boot your computer into Linux using a 2 GB USB flash drive with Mandriva
Linux on it. According to the article you can download the software free and
put it on your own flash drive or you can buy it already on the flas
Hey Elecrafters,
Last nite (St.Patrick's Day), I completed the
Wilderness Radio SST (40m). I was able to
use my N-GEN and DL1 and I was very
pleased with the result. The SST was the first

extremely easy to build. (There are only 4 toroids

Bill - I have one on my look for list. From what I have learned from a
friend who has one, the B instrument is to be preferred if you intend to

Hi Fred:
A number of years ago, Inrad DID made a few 'test' filters for the
K2, but, unfortunately, I don't believe anyone was ever able to
install them without excessive signal blow-by. As a result, the
project was halted.
