Interesting question, Charles. I just plugged my INTREPID into my K3's
KEY jack and got only dits, no dahs. All of my other bugs work
properly.
All of my bugs - including the INTREPID - work properly when connected
to my external keyer (Begali CW Machine) which I use instead of the K3
Try plugging it into the Paddle jack.

I'm very impressed with the RTTY mode in this little bugger. It is doing a
good job of decoding signals in the JART WW RTTY contest, and with it's 10
watts into my trap vertical stations in Poland, Finland, and Ukraine are

A brief followup: this only occurs with the DL1. I tried it just now going
through my LDG antenna switch to a dummy load, and everything works as it
should.
As I originally said, it's just a quirk specific to my DL1.

I received the KXPD3 Upgrade Kit for my serial number 0325 today. Easy
modification; no problems.
I installed the light spring (E980239).
In my opinion, and comparing it to the week I was able to spend with a
Begali Adventure prototype last month, it now compares quite
favorably.

Right now, I'm using a Plantronics .Audio 500 headset, which is nice
because it has stereo RX (good for the KX3's audio effects) and it has
convenient small analog connectors (perfectly compatible with the KX3).
I plan to use a short length of RG400 which is double braid shielded and
flexible. It fits perfectly in a PL-259 with a RG59 reducer...and is
commonly available at Hamfests in short lengths for a few dollars.
