I was wondering what precautions are taken, or I need to invoke, when I
use any form of transmitting?
At present, the SDR-IQ is connected to the K3's IF BNC. K3's output is
through KAT500 then outside to the antenna some distance away at 80 to
85 feet AGL. Power, while I am

transmitter- where a signal could be received, recorded, and then
immediately re-transmitted. An unattended system like that would not

generate US touch-tones (CTCSS) with a standard sound card. Google
might be your friend here.

USB uses differential signaling. Your problem may not be conductive noise, but
instead it could be radiated directly from the adapter, where the ferrite won't
help.
KeySpan makes a USB - serial adapter that is pretty much noise-free. Its model
is HS19, I think.

If you just do CW portable, why not get a KX1 with the included paddles? Much
less expensive than the KX3. And you can keep your K2! Why sell something
that you put so much into?
With the K1, I carry three items, a battery, the K1, and my paddles.

The Elecraft list will do that to messages that are sent as html. Switch
your email client to send only plain text - or remember to turn your
reflector posts into plain text before sending.
I don't know which email client you are using, so you will have to look
at its help file to find
Also note that the Blocking Dynamic Range of the FT-5000 is approximately 13-15
dB worse than the K3's, as per the Sherwood and ARRL lab test data. That mean
his rx will desense on much weaker local signals than the K3.

A few years ago I was receiving noise from my PC on 6M, via the serial
interface cable. I was also receiving it when using the KUSB of the
time with the Prolific chip-set.
I made a new serial cable using CAT-6 and the technique used in the
K9YC RFI-Ham.pdf tutorial, page 38.

radiation up and down the band. I borrowed a spectrum analyzer and
confirmed that the K3 was indeed producing lots of spurious radiation.
