IT's hard to figure how a 1750 tone would control a repeater on HF. And, I doubt that the system is a true repeater. Possibly, it's a -re- transmitter- where a signal could be received, recorded, and then immediately re-transmitted. An unattended system like that would not be permitted

USB uses differential signaling. Your problem may not be conductive noise, but instead it could be radiated directly from the adapter, where the ferrite won't help. KeySpan makes a USB - serial adapter that is pretty much noise-free. Its model is HS19, I think. Matt Zilmer Consultant -

To confirm what Geoff said, if your antenna has some kind of diodic contact, then the arc-over at the beginning of each baud, and the cessation of arc at the end, will create beautifilous klix mostly heard by locals. Having a jumpy SWR is not good. The arcing could be in coax and connectors
