IMHP the most important aspect of the P3 is the SVGA card in the unit. If it
would not have been an option I doubt that the P3 would be on my desk now
small displays just do not cut it any longer.
As far as the laptop for FD it would be easy but you would have extra cost
with it. You would

Yes it seems CW has became or becoming a thing of the past for Military or
commercial use and only used some in this hobby. I wonder how many more
decades it will survive here also, I hope it continues for a long time.

Chris,
If I understand you correctly, you have a very low voltage on U4 pin 3
during receive, and the 4.6 volts on pin 1 did not decrease after you
transmitted. (pin 1 and pin 2 should be at the same voltage).
I believe what is happening is that the charge on U4 pin 1 had no where
to bleed
As Fred said, svga is the way to go I just installed the svga card in my P3
and did the K3 mod for the power connection. Used the setup for the contest
last weekend. Was blown away with the ease of moving around and seeing who
is there on a big monitor Best thing I did..

I used a KX3 for Field Day with NaP3 Panadapter Display - can display between
48 and 192 Khz of spectrum depending on soundcard - just a laptop and a KX3.

In the past, I thought one or two of these worked okay until certain conditions

I'm guessing that my K3 has been injured during a contest.
The levels that I'm reading in the K3 from the XG3 for -33dbm output
(the -107dbm is not audible and -73 dbm has a S-1 in the s-meter) are:
S-meter reading:
160m: 4
80m: 5
40m: 6
20m: 7
15m: 8
10m: 8
How can I fix it or who can help
Quite an impressive list it is and the improvements have certainly improved
an already great radio.

All;
I have this exact cable, I paid full price for it over a year ago. It is
connected to my K3 and I use it with my XG3, TM-D710, D72 and a large
collection of devices. It is a real FTDI chipset (dual UART) and there have
been ZERO problems. This is not a Prolific clone.

I know I am way late on this. Finally got up the courage to take Exacto knife
to the filter module on my KX3. The results were gratifying. Antenna off, I
previously had VFO noise on 30 through 6 meters at an annoying level. I now
have much reduced noise on 17 through 6. With antenna connected

I'll make a prediction: CW will largely be history for ham radio
about 30-years after the date it ceased being a requirement to get a
license. That is assuming the average age of hams was 45 when they
were first licensed, they will be 75 in 30-years and quite a few no

Curt,
That is exactly the same problem I am having. Further testing revealed that it
is happening on CW as well as SSB on my radio. I haven't tried digital modes,
but I suspect that it would do the same there as well. I don't always get the
ERR FW2 when the transmit drops out as you described.

great review! i read most every review and article you post.

So, my question is regarding the BT (Battery Voltage) display. I assume that
