Hello
My friend N3BNA
Hello,
I just completed assembly of my K3/100 with subrx and 2.8khz, 400hz and
250hz filters in each rcvr. Very impressive rig.
On the main rcvr, while tuning across the 40m band, I get a dead spot
about every 5khz, thats about 1/2 khz wide. I would say any signals are
attenuated at least 20
Jim,
Did you do the calibrations? Particularly the Synthesizer and Reference
Oscillator?
If not, try those first, and if you have already done that, try doing it
again.

I'm looking for troubleshooting ideas.
My K3-10 suddenly died while in use. Here's what happened:
I was listening and transmitting on 15 meters. Heard a station in Kansas 5-9

Belay my last.
K3 resurrected itself after about an hour.
Is this a thermal shutoff issue? What might be the underlying cause?

Scotty,
The most common cause for that behavior is a problem with T1 - leads not
adequately stripped and tinned, leads not in the correct holes, the
toroid wound in the wrong direction (it must be *exactly* like the
figure in the manual), inadequate soldering.
One other (but less common)

Hi Guys,
When operating SSB, about a month ago my Foot switch cable to the K3 PTT
IN on the rear panel quit working. I tried a second foot switch that I
know is good, and that one won't key the K3 in SSB mode either. I'm
wondering if the K3 has an internal Menu setting that deactivates

Scotty,
That is strange to happen all of a sudden unless the headphone jack has
failed.
First make certain that the speaker cable is correctly inserted into P2
and that the crimp pins on the speaker cable are correctly inserted into
the housing. Many builders have trouble with the crimp
Dick,
Eliminate the foot switches from suspicion with a simple test that you
can do with your DMM.
Set the DMM to ohms and check the resistance between the tip and shell
of the RCA plug. When you depress the foot switch, the resistance
should be quite close to zero.

Scotty,
It is unfortunate that Elecraft has not been successful in their
attempts to have the vendor beef up that switch.
Inside that headphone jack is a little switch operated by a plastic arm
- that is the weak point - the arm that operates the switch breaks and
the user is left either with

Good Evening,
After last week's wind and rain today is very nice. Back to short
sleeve weather for a while. The elk are moving through and so are the
hunters. As I watch out the window it is interesting to see deer only
minutes after a truck passes. When I am out splitting wood I find
