I just put my K3 into PSK D mode and adjusted the shift of the filter and it
shows the center frequency as * FC 1.01 . Not 1.00 but 1.01! Running f/w
2.38/1.90.

So, how tough is this tuner in the K3?
I don't know, but I have done what you did (though realised it before
causing a stink.) I would really like to have the tuner automatically bypass
when selecting the antenna socket that has the external tuner on it.

What is the RJ-45 socket underneth the K3 for? I can not see it mentioned
in the manual (I can't find it any way) there is no picture in the manual
of the underneath of the K3.
It's used in the factory for automated testing.

being sent before the K3 has recalled the last mode used on that band, so it
is being overridden.

this is the sort of thing you want
to leave running all day, I'd prefer the 100W PA with its big heatsink and
pair of fans to take most of the strain. Is this possible?

Okay, but if you are more concerned with reliability than the cost of the
electricity bill, wouldn't it be better to run all the components
conservatively well within their ratings, than endure the constant heating
up and cooling down of the low power PA components?

I will try the most recent release of the firmware to see if it makes a
difference.

, if anyone wonders why I had the KAT3 active when using an
external tuner as for the magnetic loop, the reason is simply that one of my
antennas needs the KAT3 and one doesn't, and the K3 provides no way to link
the KAT3 in/out with the selection of ANT 1/2.

set the output so they can't overdrive them. It seems to me that how much
power the K3 puts out depends on what mood it's in. :)

the moment I press the second M button, quite often a dot or dash or two

If you used my KComm software, you could make shortcuts for the channels. In
fact, on the KComm web page, there is a set of shortcuts I made for the UK

The KY command is simply an alternative to external memory keyers or the
message memories built into radios like the K2 and K3 that are not
modifiable in any shape or form during the time-frame of a contest contact.
