You did not mention what bands you're listening to and when? I would
expect no signals on 10 meters and signals on 30-17 meters during the day
and 40 meters and below at night.

pressing it into service waiting for my K4D (I’m on the first run paid up
group) and getting my station accessories “Elecraft-ized” after selling my
beloved TT Orion2. (ie., mic plug required)

I had the same issue. It was caused by my Powerwerx SS-30DV. After trying a
number of things to mitigate the noise, I ended up replacing the power supply
with a Samlex SEC 1235M. Noise gone. Problem solved.
