I ended up replacing Q5, the keyline output transistor on the KX3 RF board.
It had a hole in it and apparently the magic smoke had come out. Keyline is
now working. This KX3 was purchased used and I had never used an amp or the
keyline.

I'm pretty sure that I am measuring the ring to ground for ACC2. The amp is
not connected. Is there a menu setting I could have wrong? If not is the
keyline output transistor bad? How do I diagnose the problem in the KX3?

The buttons on the K3 always work as expected, but the KPOD buttons don't.

The KX3 is my favorite of my HF radios right now. But one of my
annoyances is the internal battery limitations.
I always wind up carrying an external 6_Ah or 10_Ah LiFePo4 battery into
the field when I use this radio, an external charge controller, and
solar panel. It's not a big problem, but
I use Thunderbird on some of my machines, Apple Mail on others.
Because Apple Mail leaves even much more to be desired than Thunderbird,
I was using procmail on my ISP's server to do all of my filtering to
mailboxes. Later, the authors stopped maintaining it, and I switched to
a similar, more

Sounds like the KPA1500 is seeing more SWR than it likes. My K3 is able to
match antennas faster and better than my KAT500.

I have been thinking about installing an HF mobile rig. One idea that

cts, but I made some. Whenever I couldn't get a
contact that I felt I should, I switched over to my Kenwood TS-590S on the same
antenna, and made the contact. I'm not sure where to start troubleshooting this
other than dropping off to Elecraft to have them check

Eric and I are putting together a second SSB Elecraft net at 1845Z each
Sunday to follow the 20 meter net. We will meet on 7.282.
As the propagation cycle changes, some areas were unable to participate on
20 meters. The 20 meter net will continue as always at 1800Z.

Wayne's message about winter field day reminds me of my first winter field
day, in southern California. It was about 78 degrees in the park with a
large group. I got to play with my first Elecraft rig, a K3. I was sold.
I immediately sold my marginal FTdx1200 and got a K3, KPA500, KAT500 and
P3.
Menu:
ATU HiSWR Retune (per band) - default is OFF
Set to ON (per band)
Change antennas, a "dit" will switch to the learned tuning solution, per bin,
for the newly selected antenna.
See the manual section: "Multiple Antennas and External Antenna Switches."
The delay in shipment of the K4 just means the K3S owners have the best
Elecraft base radio they marketed a little longer. :-) Steve kb1chu

commands. I know my serial interface is good as it works with my K2 on the
SKCC and NAQCC logging programs. Does anyone have a solution, so I can use
Dan's excellent program.

your feedline (closer to your K3)?
