I imagine there are many who have the PR6 or PR6-10 for their K3.
Recently I had to replace the PGA-103 in mine so took the time to
measure NF and gain at 50-MHz.
NF = 0.78 dB
Gain = 21.15 dB
Voltage at input leg=0.6v
Voltage at output leg=2.5v

P1 is a three pin 0.1" spacing PC "Header" type plug (rectangular body -
no lip). The plug housing is 0.30" W x 0.10 T x 0.60" L.

It fits neatly between the RX in and out BNCs on the back panel. You then

Yeah, so I think that you might get some benefit from the preamp on 6m
(although if you have a S1 noise level without it, probably limited
benefit), but no benefit on 10m and below (unless your noise level
varies, and just happens to be bad today).

My PR6-10 came in today, and in my excitement, I forgot to remove jumper P2
when I replaced the PR6. The preamp seems to work gangbusters with it in.
I have the CTRL wire going to pin 1 of the DE 15 connector and of course
CONFIG:DIGI set for 6, 10, and 12M.
The instructions say that with that

Hi Joe,
I didn't see a response to your good question, so here goes one:
Yes you can use a standard 15-pin Y-cable splitter to split out signals

Thank you, Fred. And as you well know, there is no such thing as a
DB9 connector, it is a DE9. But, as you say, that looks like a fight
against a rising tide.
I have to fight this battle again and again when preparing questions for
license exams, and we constantly get complaints from the

I have an Elecraft molded cable between the K3 and KPA500 acc ports. Can I
use a VGA 'Y' splitter to connect the PR6 ctrl wire to the acc connector on
the K3? I found one on the inet that says it is wired thru except for pin
9. the male end of the Elecraft acc cable has pin 9 (and others) cut
We're now offering an external low-noise, high-performance preamp that covers
both 6 and 10 meters: the PR6-10. The PR6-10 provides useful gain and low noise
figure down to about 22 MHz, so it can be used on the 12-meter band as well.
In most respects, the PR6-10 functions the same as the PR6,
