I use AUDACITY which is a free software, record my own messages, set it
to play a loop and let it feed the radio. It can be used for most all
modes, SSB and CW. I have several pre-recorded messages which I can

I press my footswitch briefly when I want to stop playing a "M"
button recording. I think that's normal behavior for a K3. (I
don't use VOX with voice modes. Too many people come into my
shack to ask me questions and I don't want my answers to go out
over the air.)

I’ve had the KDVR in a K3 since 2009 and my K3S since they began shipping (S/N
10069, very early s/n). I’ve never had any issue like you describe.
