I have two K3's and the LCD's appear to be colored differently. I have the two LCD settings the same but the newer K3 display is slightly darker or more orangish in color than the older one. Steve; I believe you have the same problem I had a few years ago on my K3 s/n 732. It turns out that the current sensor IC, U6 on the KPAIO3 board was toast. When you go above 12W this sensor measures the current to the KPA3. There is also the same sensor (U1) on the RF board which is protected against reverse voltage on the 12V in. The sensor on the KPAIO3 board is not protected against reverse voltage as this is connected directly to the input connector. Please don't ask me how I found this out. Could you have possibly reversed the 12V to the rig momentarily? I replaced U6 and that fixed it. [Elecraft] K1 : W3FPR K2 Fixed Audio ??
I have a K1 that is about a year old. Love it. Sometimes I like to use the K1EL K42 keyer with it. This keyer is a CW Keyboard and a Morse Reader coupled to a dynamite good Message Memory function. This setup works very well. But presently, I am using a splitter off of the headphone jack. This is usable, but a line level fixed output would be nice to have. Has anyone already solved this issue? It seems that the W3FPR circuit and a 1/8 jack next to the keyer jack would work. Audio could be tapped off of the (input/output) of the existing LM386 through a suitable cap. - I think. Any thoughts?? [Elecraft] K3's new AGC: Working on reported audio loss
We have about 100 customers testing the new K3 AGC firmware. While the improvement is clear, there appears to be an edge condition related to the setting of AGC SLP and large incoming signals. The symptom is a loss of audio. (In most cases, a the default AGC SLP setting of 12 appears to prevent the problem from occurring.) Re: [Elecraft] Issue with new P3/P3SVGA firmware
Hi Ian, As far as I know no one else is experiencing this. When you upgraded to the new firmware did load both the SVGA and P3? You can verify this by using the P3 Utility, it will show the version information of both the P3 and SVGA. -Paul Ian Kahn - Ham wrote I uploaded the new P3/P3SVGA firmware last night, and now I have what appears to be a minor, but annoying issue. When I first boot everything up, I have my P3 set up to display both waterfall and bandscope displays. However, the P3SVGA only shows the bandscope display. I have to turn the dual display off then back on again in order to get both displays via the P3SVGA. Also, my frequency markers on the SVGA display are reduced to a 1-pixel wide line instead of the broader green and purple markers. Is anyone else seeing this? [Elecraft] K3 Tx audio ramp up with DATA-A mode
Bob, Thanks for that info, a much more elegant way to control the emu0202 audio output. I had to use the Contol Panel approach to gaining access to the speaker dialog box. Adjusting the WAVE slider to the first mark at the bottom and K3 MIC level to 20 was perfect setting to obtain ALC 4-bars+ 5th blinking that is desired. Nicer to plug audio line into back output jack and leave headphone jack for normal use (which I use). I am running JT65B under WSJT for 2m-eme and one feature that I could not use was the moon ECHO mode. That mode allows you to send a short carrier to the moon and receive your own signal to measure overall system performance. The Tx/Rx sequence only lasts 2-seconds and with the K3 ramping up power taking 4-5 seconds this mode was unusable. Besides overdriving the K3 in DATA-A is not nice. Computer is Dell 2.33 GHz duo-core2 running XP32. BTW running the emu0202 is very handy with having real physical control pots for setting receive audio level as noise can change this at any time and being able to reset this for the spectrum waterfall display is VERY handy. Transmit audio only needs to be set once and forgotten. -- Date: Sun, 6 May 2012 21:00:54 -0600 From: Bob Cunnings bob.cunni...@gmail.com Subject: [Elecraft] K3 Tx audio ramp up with DATA-A mode To: Elecraft Reflector elecraft@mailman.qth.net Message-ID: caji1cyoit18xynakfoaxiqxns_xf+hd3o7ce3_bzj1xl4j4...@mail.gmail.com Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1 If you are using Windows, there *is* a way to adjust the emu0202 output in software. Select the Audio tab (not the Volume tab where the controls are grayed out) and you should see the emu0202 as the sound playback device. Click on the Volume... button to open the Speaker dialog, where you can adjust the output level. With mine set to the 2nd tick mark from the bottom, the mic level control is set to 16 or 17 to drive the K3 to 4-5 bars input in DATA A mode. Re: [Elecraft] kx1 antenna
From: Rick Carolyn Dwight [mailto:kl...@mtaonline.net] Sent: Saturday, May 05, 2012 10:32 AM To: 'elecraft@mailman.qth.net' Subject: kx1 antenna Mike, I have used a kx1 portable for many years in many locations with approximately a 25 ft wire, more or less vertical and one or two counterpoise wires approximately 17 ft. If the counterpoise wire(s) are laying directly on the ground nearly 100% of the time the rig tunes 2:1 on 40 meters and typically lower on 20 and 30 meters. If the counterpoise wires are elevated (even laying on bushes) the rig may not tune on 40 meters. It is usually OK if you sit at a table and drape the counterpoise wires down to the ground. I have found it very useful to always carry approximately a 6 or 8 foot wire with a medium size car battery charger clip on one end. Often clipping onto a metal picnic table, guard rail, car body, chain link fence, or whatever is all I need for a workable ground/counterpoise. Or in your example, just try lengthening one of the radials with the clipped on wire, or for 40 meters only try lengthening the 24 ft radiator with the clip lead. There is a good chance that the rig will then tune on 40 meters. It is possible but not likely that something is wrong with the antenna tuner, you can step through the L and C combinations manually as outlined in the manual. The 25 ft wire and 17 ft counterpoise/radial is not proposed as a high performance antenna, but as a very workable, light weight antenna which is easy to set up and will yield many happy QSO's ..some well over a thousand miles on all 3 bands. This is my usual travel and backpacking antenna, however, if I am operating in a contest and can set up a more elaborate antenna, it may be worth the effort. It is probable that this very simple antenna counterpoise combo will actually work better than many of the compact, expensive, cute, loaded antennas that you see advertised). For 40 meters a longer radiator(closer to 33 ft) and a more extensive counterpoise or radial system will perform better, but radiators much longer than approximately 26 or 27 feet will not tune on 20 meters. If your radials are laying on the ground, a larger number of radials are more important than radials longer than about 17 ft. If your counterpoise is elevated above ground, for example on a deck, one or two resonant (quarter wave) radials will be probably be better, although I have found rather unlikely combinations that actually worked just fine. Re: [Elecraft] Portable Antennas (Is there an easy button?)
Bernie : One of the most simple and effective portable antennas is the 44 Doublet, sometimes referred to as the Norcal Doublet : http://www.norcalqrp.org/norcaldoublet.htm This should give you coverage from 40m through 10m with the internal ATUs in the Elecraft rigs. I don't like to rely on mother nature for antenna supports so I normally use a 20 foot panfish pole to support the antenna as an inverted vee. Other options would be the bigger DK9SQ mast, the similar model that MFJ sells or the JackKite models (all close to 30 feet when fully extended). Get yourself a Pomona 1296 BNC to Male Binding post adaptor and put Radio Shack solderless Banana Plugs on the ends of the wire feedline, this will allow for quick connect and disconnect of the antenna. I use fishing snap swivels at the center and ends of the antenna and stake the ends of the doublet with some small aluminum tent pegs attached to some lengths of brightly colored nylon cord so the ends of the antenna are visible and present less of a hazard to anyone who might happen by. The 88 foot version of this antenna will give you coverage down to 80m. Its cheap, very portable, easy to deploy and effective. Michael VE3WMB (K1, KX1, K2 builder/owner) P.S. Re: [Elecraft] My K2/100 keeps resetting at high power
Just to follow up on this for anyone who might be searching the archives, the problem was traced to the power supply. I would suggest starting with the DC Diode voltage measurements - use the values in the new KPA100 manual rather than your printed one - the chart in your old manual is no longer good. Make certain the HV bias supply voltage stays up to par during transmit. If you have a 'scope, observe the RF output carefully with an eye on the time-base of the 'scope so you can try to determine the frequency (even if relevant) of good transmission vs. the frequency when it begins to draw more current. Then the current reading drops to 1.5 and stays there. The metering of my power supply shows increasing current and everything resets itself when it gets ~15-20A. [Elecraft] KX3 Order
Seeing chatter about orders and when they will arrive I checked my Elecraft order confirmation since I am unsure of the exact time I placed my order on 27Dec2011 The confirm e-mail was sent at 10:46pm; order# 2208-4482-7710 I later augmented my order to add the tuner What is not clear is if the time-tag is AK time or CA time. I wonder if anyone recalls the exact time that ordering was started. Just to give me time to guess how far back in the pack I am. Re: [Elecraft] My K2/100 keeps resetting at high power
Ditto here with my K3/100, except that the Astron 20 recently developed a bad habit of crowbar'ing when I get on 20 meters with the KPA500. Slams off IMMEDIATELY on transmit with the amp. I guess it doesn't like 500+ watts @ 20' (my vertical). Waiting for the KAT500, which will resolve that issue (the wire antenna is 60' away but requires a tuner). :-\ 73, Rick wa6nhc -Original Message- From: K1FFX I'm glad that switching to a bigger Astron supply solved your problem. Re: [Elecraft] KX3 Order
Hello Ed, The order start time in UTC, along with an UNOFFICIAL and PARTIAL list of orders as voluntarily self-reported by members of the KX3 Yahoo group may be found at the link below. If you wish, you may add your information at the bottom of the appropriate Orders Placed tab (factory built or kit), either with your call or anonymously, and the person maintaining the list will sort your entry into place a bit later. Hopefully you can examine the headers on your original confirmation email to determine the zone the reported time belongs to. Note there are three tabs in this workbook: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AsxBsqqgt7AxdGMtanBqcWMwOUVUYVZRbnJjZGN0UlE#gid=0 Remember that this list is not an Elecraft list. Items may ship out of order as shown on this list since it is unofficial and incomplete. It is only a very rough guide for those who couldn't wait to hear news about shipments. Elecraft is shipping as rapidly as they can, consistent with quality and start up issue resolution. I am happy to wait for mine so it is right! I received my shipping pre-notice (or order reconfirmation request) late Friday and hope to have my radio in the next week or so. My order was placed at 04:48 UTC that first night, roughly 90 minutes or so after ordering opened. 73 de JP WF4Z On Mon, May 7, 2012 at 2:01 PM, Edward R. Re: [Elecraft] Portable Antennas (Is there and easy button?)
This simple antenna has worked very well with my 3-band KX1 (40-30-20). The original idea came from WA3WSJ. The antenna consists of a 40-ft radiator that is tossed up into a tree to form anything from an inverted-L, to a sloper, to a vertical. There are three 16-ft counterpoise wires that are laid out on the ground. The antenna and counterpoise are connected directly to the KX1 using a BNC-to-banana-jack adaptor. I have about 50-ft of fishing line attached to the end of the radiator and put a fishing weight on the end of that. I either use a slingshot or my arm to toss the weight over a branch and then haul up the antenna into place. The radiator and counterpoise are both made from steel bead wire. It is a very strong but thin nylon coated stranded steel wire that is used by craft people to make jewelry. A 100-ft spool only cost about $7 at a local fabric and craft store. Of course the nylon coating must be removed to make the connections, and since it's steel and can't be soldered a banana plug that clamps onto the wire must be used. The radiator, fishing line, and counterpoise all wind back up on the spool that the wire originally came on. This antenna is simple, strong, and light weight, and has given me good results from the field with contacts all over the country and some DX as well. I'm sure that steel wire has all kinds of technical problems with velocity factors and stuff like that, but it works. Making it with some small gauge Teflon coated copper wire should certainly work as well or better than the bead wire. 73, Paul - N8XMS __ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html
Re: [Elecraft] K3 AGC improvements (MCU rev 4.50 / DSP 2.74)
To my ears, this AGC change is a MAJOR improvement! It didn't take any extensive testing to reach that conclusion. The difference is immediately obvious. As mentioned previously, with low values of slope and high values of threshold, loud signals blank out with the current firmware release, so the most aggressive combinations can't be used now. Threshold 15 and slope 0 seem to work pretty well though. I am listening to 20 meter cw now with two K3's. Rig 1 has the new firmware, with threshold 15 and slope 0. Rig 2 has threshold 8 and slope 0 with the current mainstream firmware. Rig 1 sounds MUCH cleaner, both on the loud W1AW code practice signal, and on the 7O6T pileup. The pileup is not too deep on any one frequency, so it's not the ultimate test, but signals do sound much cleaner on rig 1. If more aggressive values of slope and threshold can be accommodated without the blanking effect, the improvement will be even greater.Elecraft is definitely on the right track here. Thanks for working on this issue! Dave Hachadorian, K6LL Yuma, Arizona -Original Message- From: Wayne Burdick Sent: Sunday, May 06, 2012 4:06 PM To: Elecraft Wayne Burdick - N6KR Subject: K3 AGC improvements (MCU rev 4.50 / DSP 2.74) Hi all (everyone is BCC'd on this), As I mentioned, we've made some improvements to the K3's DSP AGC. No hardware changes are being made this time. This is strictly a firmware change to the MCU and DSPs. One change will benefit the AGC at all settings: elimination of the interpolation errors in the AGC onset curve. This by itself adds some clarity to signals. The other change allows the AGC THR parameter to be set to a higher value -- up to 20. The original default (5) put the threshold for AGC onset to around S2 or S3, and the max was 8 (about S4-S5). A setting of about 11 now puts the threshold around S7, and the new max of 20 puts it around S8-S9. Any signals below the threshold should not activate DSP AGC at all. (Hardware AGC is not affected by the changes; it still kicks in around S9+20 dB.) Two interesting side-effects of raising the threshold: (1) noise blanking may seem to be much more effective than before; (2) QSB on weak signals may be more noticeable. ** IMPORTANT: Please set AGC SLP (slope) to something above 0, for now, as this appears to cause problems. Setting AGC THR above 8 will *temporarily disable* auto-notch and noise reduction. The switches and NR level control will still behave the same, but they will have no effect unless you set the threshold back to 8 or lower. We may make the threshold per-mode in a later release so that, for example, you could set a high threshold for CW but still have a threshold of 8 or lower for other modes, allowing NR and auto-notch to still work in this case. The reason autonotch and NR must be disabled for high-threshold AGC is that the dynamic range of signals can be an order of magnitude higher. We'll be experimenting further to see if NR and autonotch can be modified to still allow their use with high thresholds. But generally speaking, pileup conditions in CW (the principle target) don't require the use of NR, and autonotch doesn't apply to CW. *** Keep in mind that it may be difficult to reproduce the conditions under which in-band IMD has been reported. Most operators have claimed it was caused by dozens (maybe even hundreds!) of signals in the S5 or lower range, all practically on top of each other. This effect has gotten worse in recent years due to the prevalence of spotting. Short of actually heading for a DX QTH, you may not be able to reproduce the conditions accurately. But it is true that some operators prefer a higher AGC threshold in general, while allowing AGC to remain turned on. You'll now have that capability with the K3. This has been touted as a difference in favor of some other radios. Not any more :) The new firmware is attached. As with a beta release, you'll need to unzip (extract) the files and put them somewhere easily located, usually on the desktop, then tell K3 Utility where to find it. You must load all of the new code, so use the send all option. Make sure after loading that your MCU is at rev 4.50 and both DSP and AUX DSP at 2.74. Please test the new code in a variety of conditions. If you have two K3s, please put the new firmware on one of them, set them both up identically, and compare them by switching the antenna between the two radios. Assuming it passes your own tests, feel free to pass it on to anyone who you think might benefit from it, including those planning DXpeditions (or even *at* a DXpedition, if they're willing and able to try a new firmware load). Also, by all means post your observations to the Elecraft reflector (or elsewhere). If all goes well, we can release this as beta code next week. 73, Wayne N6KR __ Elecraft mailing list

[Elecraft] P3 spurs that move with tuning - resolution.
Original post: While tuned to 3533, the P3 reported an S9 signal, narrow and essentially a steady carrier down frequency 15 KHz or so. It moved with the VFO A cursor such that I couldn't tune to it. I found similar signals on other bands. Geoff and I have been conversing about it off-list and the final conclusion was that I had finally calibrated my K3 S-meter with my service monitor, and then tried to calibrate the P3. I was able to do so, however I had to run the P3 Gain way way up to get -73 dBm on the P3 for the S9 signal. K3 is S/N 642 and did not have the IF level mod. It does now, the P3 gain is back in reasonable territory, K3 and P3 agree on signal strength, and all the spurs are gone. My theory is that with the P3 gain so high, it was seeing miniscule leakage of internal K3 signals. Moral appears to be, if you're going to use a P3, you need the IF level mod [K3BUFFKIT] or something like that if your K3 doesn't already have it. The kit replaces a single SM resistor [R8 on the RF board]. If I can do it, anyone can. Elecraft sent both SM and leaded resistors, I chose old school. I found R8 very easily, grabbed it with a small locking surgical clamp, and it immediately broke off leaving the two pads. I formed the resistor leads, soldered the one end into the via, and then tacked down the other end. By far the hardest part was getting the K3 out of the shelf, a dozen cables disconnected, and then reconnecting everything [correctly] in back again. It took several tries, and I kept wondering why is it called wireless? Incidentally, I have a small stock of surgical clamps of various types, they are most useful electronic tools. 73, Fred K6DGW - Northern California Contest Club - CU in the 2012 Cal QSO Party 6-7 Oct 2012 - www.cqp.org __ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html

I also added a center off - spdt switch to bypass one or both diodes as the voltage dropped after operating for awhile. -- View this message in context: http://elecraft.365791.n2.nabble.com/KX3-LiPol-battery-pack-and-KX3-voltage-vs-output-tp7180886p7537289.html Sent from the Elecraft mailing list archive at Nabble.com. __ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html

Re: [Elecraft] wiring the KX1 paddle
I just finished building the KXPD1 paddle for my KX1. After examining the situation, I really felt that having to solder the wires to the plug after the paddles were on the body would be unnecessarily difficult. I decided that it would be much easier to attach the wires to the plug first and work on the proper routing of the wires to the paddle circuit boards with the stereo plug inserted in the body of the paddle. I did a lot of position testing of the paddle circuit boards and wire bending, but the results were very nice, and I had plenty of room to work. I think it was a very straightforward way to assemble the KXPD1. - 73, Stan - KR7C -- View this message in context: http://elecraft.365791.n2.nabble.com/wiring-the-KX1-paddle-tp7528281p7537316.html Sent from the Elecraft mailing list archive at Nabble.com. __ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html
Re: [Elecraft] New KX1 low power and 20m oscillation
The 20m waveform on my P3 seems very broad, but I don't think that it is due to any kind of oscillation. The signal is 20 KHz wide at about 40 dB down. I don't know if this is normal or not, but I did manage to make 20m and 40m QSOs last evening with good signal reports for both. We in the IT business call it Alpha and you don't send it to anybody who can't figure out how to fix a broken system. In this case it's pretty easy, reset the radio and reload a backed up FW and config. I would call what Wayne is doing this time Beta and when it is released on the website for general testing, Beta 2. On 05/07/2012 06:50 PM, Cady, Fred wrote: Hi Dave, It's not beta yet. [Elecraft] K3-EZ, new 4.50 firmware and first impressions
In testing the new firmware, I discovered that K3-EZ version 2.0.0.5 will not allow AGC THR to be set above 8 and advised that this is not possible in nice red text :) N2BC will have to modify this in a later release when this new rev goes into the wild. Of course, no problem in changing it on the radio front panel. First impressions are quite good. Only tried it on SSB but there is much more separation of signal levels than before with no changes in the settings I had in the rig. The higher the AGC THR, the more open the receiver sounds. Have not needed the noise blanker yet. I also hear much tighter dynamics control... less suck out on loud signals and the AGC decay ramps up a bit quicker than before. This may or may not be real but preceived effect of less AGC action. The audio is much more open than before from a dynamics standpoint. Much more pronouced difference in loud vs soft signals now, with the same settings that I had before, just the change in the firmware. Nice start, gents. Will try on CW later tonight. -lu-w4lt- K3 #3192 __ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html
[Elecraft] P3 -- Span slow to update
A couple of weeks ago I updated the P3 FW from 1.09 to 1.16 and while I've not noticed any improvements since I don't have the SVGA board, I have noticed that the SPAN adjusts very slowly now. Re: [Elecraft] New KX1 low power and 20m oscillation
Stan, Do you have the proper number of turns on the LPF toroids. Count them and count again. I suspect you may have one extra turn giving you the lower power on 40 meters. I am not sure why you get the wide signal on 20 meters, because an extra turn on the toroids would reduce the cutoff frequency down into the 20 meter band. Count the number of times the wire passes through the center of the core. 73, Don W3FPR On 5/7/2012 8:10 PM, Stan Gibbs wrote: The 20m waveform on my P3 seems very broad, but I don't think that it is due to any kind of oscillation. Re: [Elecraft] K3 AGC improvements (MCU rev 4.50 / DSP 2.74)
Bill, True, true -- but the situation with the KX3 is different than what has transpired with previous products. Previously, the conversations of the Field Testers have been on a private forum. While that is still true with the KX3, there is a lot more information that is in the open. My guess is that it is due to the KX3 Yahoo Group, where a lot of questions are posed. Wayne and Eric have been willing to respond to a number of those questions, and I believe that has set the stage for the present level of 'openness'. From my standpoint, Thank You other Elecraft customers for being patient while the process of final development, Field Test, and production ramp-up are taking place. There are a few that expect immediate results to problems, but for the most part, customers have been very accepting of the inevitable delays in (optimistic) plans, and the resulting turmoil that each delay can create inside Elecraft. Delays in the original plan (SWAG) are inevitable. It is impossible to attempt to predict the schedule of another company ( read 'supplier') until you have commitments for price, quantity and schedule in place, and that is difficult to accomplish unless you have real numbers that the supplier can quote on. That is only one of the possible things that can happen. I have observed that the KX3 plan and schedule has been more open and transparent than most previous products. Whether that is good or bad depends on the customer acceptance of supplier delays, field test reports that result in tweaks to the product, or problems in training new people to enable ramp up to full production status. So far all is well, but the future remains to be seen. 73, Don W3FPR On 5/7/2012 10:25 PM, Bill Frantz wrote: As a retired software developer, what amazes me is the way Wayne and company are performing their beta test. Re: [Elecraft] K3 AGC improvements (MCU rev 4.50 / DSP 2.74)
Making a great rig even better. Totally stoked to play with the radio with the new firmware. Re: [Elecraft] K3 AGC improvements (MCU rev 4.50 / DSP 2.74)
Sorry, I was responding to the wrong post. While the content is valid for what it is, it is in response to a post on the KX3 Yahoo Group, and has nothing to do with the K3 AGC. 73, Don W3FPR On 5/7/2012 10:53 PM, Don Wilhelm wrote: Bill, True, true -- but the situation with the KX3 is different than what has transpired with previous products. When this issue was first raised, the company could have been defensive and simply asserted that there was no problem -- those of us who have been doing this for a while can easily think of nearly identical situations wherein other ham manufacturers have done exactly that. Indeed, there were comments on this reflector offhandedly dismissing the queries about signal mush. But not from the design team; they took it to heart and dug through the problem with a serious desire to replicate it if possible, and to figure out the source and attack it. And did it right in the middle of the big production crunch with the KX3, and with no specific financial payoff in mind. The payoff is in knowing that no stone has been left unturned to make the K3 the best DX/contest machine it can be, and that the hams who appreciate that will spread the word. - Bill Frantz| The first thing you need when | Periwinkle (408)356-8506 | using a perimeter defense is a | 16345 Englewood Ave www.pwpconsult.com | perimeter. | Los Gatos, CA 95032 __ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html __ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html __ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html

I have to turn the dual display off then back on again in order to get both displays via the P3SVGA. Also, my frequency markers on the SVGA display are reduced to a 1-pixel wide line instead of the broader green and purple markers. Is anyone else seeing this? Stan, Without a 'scope or Spectrum Analyzer connected to your KX1, I don't know haw to answer, but my best guess is that you have a 20 meter low pass filter that has a cutoff frequency that is lower than normal (spreading the LPF turns will help with that, while the LPF cutoff for 40 meters is too low for whatever reason or another, and that must be resolved.
