Thanks to the guys who pointed me in the direction of the K3 menu. I'd
wrongly assumed it was something at the computer end.

Interesting...
Your radio uses power only 35% of the time when transmitting CW, and about
25% during normal Voice SSB operation.

Buck K4IA casts aspersions on the OCF Dipole by saying that it Is
inherently unbalanced; but although the antenna is geometrically
asymmetric, it is not inherently unbalanced as far as the feeding is
concerned. See W8JI paper on the subject which shows that the standing wave

Thanks for sharing this.

That happened when I tried to plug in the replacement. Slipped left of the

The original was correctly installed.

Well I've had my Gamma for maybe 5 years, used it with several brands of
transceivers, and don't do anything stupid like try to run RTTY, FM, or AM

lot when operating with it, but only at 30 watts or so. This is all common

Although I don't have a KPA500 (still dreaming as I have to buy diapers), I

Hello Ariel,
Does the KPA500 show the same band that the K2 is on? If not, try tapping your

frequency and switch in the correct band pass filters.

You may want to talk to tech support when they open on Monday. You can connect
the KPA to the K2 using a serial cable, but be sure to follow the K2 rules and
only connect pins 2, 3 and 5. DO NOT connect the other pins on the KPA -0 that
is, do not use a straight-through 9 conductor cable. Set
The KPA500 does not see the K2 Band. I do not have an RS232 connection just

The K2/100 RF output is connected to the KPA500 input. The KPA500 output to
the antenna. I have the K2/100 RS232 cable made up to connect to a computer.

Yes, there is an asterisk that appears on the KPA display after transmit. PA

For listening, you should not have serious RFI problems, so you can get any old
good quality audio system and have fun. Think dorm room stereo and find a
decent amp and speakers.
If you are transmitting, things get more difficult.
