What is the Pelican case number that most one uses for just the K2? I see
the 1400 case is just large enough to fit the K2 but there is only about .5

Hi Charlie and all,
I have also been doing some research on cases for a slightly different
application and ordered two last might. Here is what I found. It is based
on the need of transporting my K2 equipment in an emergency situation, and
requires a water resistant but not water proof case. I
FWIW - for others - I just bought a Lowepro Omni Traveler Extreme for my
cameras. Excellent rock-solid build quality.

I found a good solid metal case at Lowes for about 25 blucks. Not water proof,
but it can take a knocking around in the baggage compartment of a plane. I
also picked up an Anvil case at Dayton two years agoor 20 bucks.

This is a great thread - I looked at the Pelican cases, and ended up getting
the powerport backpack with the inner box. But I am still looking for a
hard case that will hold the K2/tuner, cables etc. for air travel.

Originally I had hoped to have thew K2 face out the front,.,,, can't
be done , the radio must sit sideways otherwise there is not
enough protection ... AND THE SCREW FROM THE VENT WILL WACK THE TUNING KNOB
The set sits upside down , and the bail

These are a bit pricey but if you travel alot it may be
worth it. I found the 23x13x11 case at a swapmeet for
$40.

Perhaps I should clarify my previous post. I am really only looking into a
Pelican case for my application. It seems as if the Pelican 1400 is just
large enough to get a K2 in but there is a question about the vent screw
hitting the side of the K2 as it must face sideways to fit the case. I
Hi Charlie,
I use a hard sided golf bag, a little over 4 feet, to transport
amateur gear as checked baggage to DXpeditions. This
golf box as I call it is intended for golfers to put their club
bag inside for protection. I got mine at Dick's sporting
goods. Its been to bq9p, xy3c, t33c, c91,
I have a little egg on my face. My type said K3. I don't have a K3 and
didn't mean to roil the troops. I will be taking my K2 to VK9CGG where it
will be used mostly for the low bands and RTTY. N0KV is coming along with
my other K2 for higher band work.
So, I am looking for Pelican cases
Hi Charlie,
I know you are looking for a Pelican case, but I just thought of something
interesting. A long time ago I won a hard case for a radio control
transmitter for RC airplanes. It might have been made by JR. Anyway, I
never used it until I got the K2. It has diced foam which I pulled

integrate the KXB3080 module into my KX1.
To start off, it was a challenge to remove the KX1 board as I was afraid
of applying too much force. I eventually

Sounds like we won't be seeing a K3, IC-7000MKII,

looking for a K3 2 years back, as it normally (90's)

a new product into manufacture. Software-based, less.
