I've not found this to be the case here--also use 3.06 and operate CW.
I know that the AGC THR setting will affect the signal volume when NR is
engaged.
I typically have the THR setting between 4 and 6 and the NR at 2-1.
I use the rear headphone jack.

You can set the K3 to one speaker. Then you listen to the
selected receiver with both ears. Of course, you can't
listen to the main
He wants to hear the subreceiver, and ONLY the subreceiver, in both ears

when the signal spatially sounds like it is between their ears. And

All,
I have completed Phase II of construction and have a couple of questions. But
first, I have the RF Gain set to full clockwise, Filter full CCW and AF Gain
at about the 12 O'clock position. I have a 28' piece wireman 541 wire
connected to the red side and a 16' piece of the same wire
Well if you one to run a pile up in split, why not transmit on VFO b, and
dail the main VFO to listen, You have the volume on both ears, easy as that.
If you want to hear your own freq. just push sub, and you can hear your own
QRG on the Sub. and switch it of again.
Nothing required.

Jerry,
1st question - did the seller provide the Control Cable? - a cable with
3 DB-9 connectors on it? If not you will need to build one (if you
eliminate computer control of the K2, you can do it with only 2 DB-9
connectors)
CAUTION - do not use a computer serial cable.
If you do not have
I don't see and advantage to doing that rather than operating split with the
main receiver unless he wants to use a beverage or other receive only antenna,
but you can do that by operating regular split with the main receiver and
selecting Antenna #2. The other way is to use a mono headset
If he is going to be operating *split* then he can only transmit on the
SubRx Frequency(VFO B) and listen on the Main. You cannot transmit on
the main and listen on the Sub in Split mode. At least I haven't found a
way. :-)

The trimmers are normal one turn trimmer capacitors. I any one full

The order of things is important - peak 20 meters first - if you cannot
find a peak on 20 meters, you have something wrong and will have to look

It would be nice to have some type of fader control from main to sub. It is
sometimes nice to hear both at the same time in both ears and level up one

Jim,
I would hesitate to say there have been a *lot* of problems, but each
has his own threshold of tolerance. Many items reported on the
reflector are neither firmware or hardware related but are 'cured' by
informing the operator of the proper sequence of button-pushes or menu
settings.

The wealth of input from users on the K3's performance is a great sign of

The crystal grounding on X2 thru X5 is designed to allow space for the

Ruben,
If I were building such an adapter, I would add a 3 position switch (2

No 'experience' to report here, only an opinion.
I would not put LiPo batteries inside the K2, but would consider them as
a lightweight external power supply.
Even though they are heavy, sealed lead acid batteries do offer some
advantages. They do not self-discharge as the NiMH batteries have a

Tom,
Intermittents are tough to analyze and to find the problem source.
The most likely answer is that there is a poor solder connection somewhere.
I trust the tuner is a KAT100 rather than a KAT2. The KAT2 does not
have LEDs.
If you can keep it in the failure state, it may be easy to find
