I think it was shared neutral. The cubicle wiring design could well have been

I got the whip for 17m. I figure there is not much difference between a coil at
the base of the whip and a coil inside the ATU. Neither one will radiate. So
get a whip for the highest band you want to use and let the ATU provide loading
for lower bands.

cation use, but maybe not for music. When my Grado
SR60 headphones died after fifteen years, I tried using the CM500’s for a
while. That didn’t work. I stopped listening until I got a new pair of Grado
headphones. I upgraded to the SR225e.

When QRM and QRN were codified, there was little or no RFI. I try to use “RFI”
instead of “QRM” or “QRN”. Everyone understands that.

SSDs don’t seek. Any block anywhere on the SSD can be read with no delay.
The only effect of de-fragmenting an SSD would be to shorten its lifetime by
doing unnecessary writes.

obably best for SSB, CW or other non-FM modes. It
is hard to beat a modern 2m HT for 2m FM, either on price or performance. A
Yaesu FT-60R costs less and puts out about double the power.

That reminds me of something I saw at Pacificon a few years ago. A young ham

A long time ago, I visited the transmitter room at the top of One Shell Plaza
in Houston. There were nine 100 kW FM transmitters on the same antenna. The RF
plumbing was something to behold, with big stubs like that all over the place.

For HF, exact dimensions rarely work. Anything close to the wire, like trees or
houses, will electrically shorten the wire thanks to the capacitance. So a wire
can be different electrical lengths with leaves on and off a tree.

I seem to remember that the 3-6 dB boost in the top band was to correct for
rolloff in analog receive filters. I have no idea where I read that, but it was
probably back in the 1970’s.
If so, it is probably rarely needed today.

Gore-Tex might let moisture out, but it might let it in. Moisture migrates from
the more humid side of the membrane to the less humid side. It is a pretty slow
process.

There are some pretty convincing measurements that show that the SignaLink USB
is not as good as it should be.
For this application, the SignaLink is useless, because for I/Q output from the
KX3, he’ll need stereo in. The SignaLink is mono.

I use Eneloop XX batteries in my KX3 with no problems. They are a very tight
fit, but that is because of the low-resistance contacts in the KX3 battery
holder. The 2nd generation Eneloop XX were renamed “Eneloop Pro”.
